Saw something on their site that I'd like to buy, but I'm not familiar with this dealer. Anybody here have any experience with Midwest Gun Works?

feedback on midwestgunworks

I have had a lot of dealings with midwest gun works I am a browning collector, mainly a-5 and browning rifles,I have bought numerous parts from them.they have been 100% on evereything I have bought, fast shipping and good prices, they have also always had exactly what I wanted,I would give them an A+,hope this helps, they are as good as any,and better than most!

Midwest Gun Doesn't Works

Be careful when you are ordering from these people. They will not take responsibility for shipping the wrong part to you...and to make matters worse, they will not refund the shipping cost when it clearly was their fault and will not pay to get it back. And a 10% restocking fee? Really? This was my first and last exerience with these peeps.

I have had good luck with them. They fitted an extra set of barrels to a Browning Citori frame for me. The bluing and fit were top notch. I also have ordered via internet from them and had good luck. I live a couple hours away from their facility and was very impressed when I dropped off my shotgun in person for the new barrels. They were extremely professional and exceptionally well organized.

Aside from their prices for service being a bit on the way high side..

They "don't do any kind of threading, except choke tubes"

and.. "we don't do the black rifle thing here".

Though they are about 6 minutes away from me, I'll go elsewhere.

I've heard their work is top notch when it comes to repairs and such, and it better be for the price.

Maybe 5-7 years ago I read a review in a publication by a guy wqho found a beater superposed and had it sent to them for a tune up. If I recall it was like. 30 incher with full and full They cut it to 28 and choked it to improved and modified or something more useful and reb lued and cleaned up the wood and re marked the choke codes. Price seemed to be reasonable for the quality of work. Of course I had recebtly passed on a beat up super myself. They have a bunch of former browning st louis guys wrking there and allegedly bought all their NOS parts inventory or some such. They are proud of their stuff as reflected in their prices but otherwise seem quality

You wouldn't have had to call if you'd looked through the web site - it's almost all shotguns. Look at the price list.

A+......they fitted some extra barrels on a Superposed for me, highly recommend their work.

Yeah, but they market themselves as a full service gunsmith shop.

No they don't. Read the list of services and the list of prices.

Sir, respectfully,

I live about 6 minutes away, and I am well aware of their local paper ads.
I'll have to disagree.

Purchased a Timney trigger that was defective. They refused to support return/exchange. Timney is a great company, and I worked out a return with them. I will not do business with MWGW again based on the disconnect in backing products they sell. I'm sticking with Midway USA, Midsouth Shooters Supply, Natchez, or Cabelas. My 2 pennies.

I've been talking about their web site, right? I don't have a subscription to any midwest newspapers. Do you disagree with what I've said about the info on their web site regarding the services list and price list and parts list?

As far as support, it sounds like they provide the same support as most gun shops and many retailers - it's a manufacturer's warranty, take it up with them. Sounds normal to me. All they would do is send it to Timney so you might as well do because it will get there faster.

I ordered their 22" deer barrel and Rifled choke tube for my Winchester 1300. This also comes with an improved choke tube and it said "rifle sights". Shipping was extremely fast. I think I ordered on a Monday night and they were on my door step Thursday afternoon. Everything was packaged well except for one little hiccup. The rifled choke tube was nowhere to be found! I tried calling right around closing time and did not get through to anyone, so I sent them an email. I woke up the next morning to a response, apologizing up and down and they had already sent the choke tube in the mail! I just got it today in perfect condition and also packaged well. I order a ton of stuff online (too much actually, it's not good when the UPS guy is on a first name basis with you) and I've had plenty of issues like this where a piece was missing and I can honestly say this is the best service I've had from an online retailer in years. There was no arguing or anything, just a reply with an apology and a tracking number.

PS, the deer barrel had fully adjustable fiber optic front and rear sights! well worth the money.

I ordered from them and had no problem. They were the only online store I could find that had what I needed. If that's the case with you I recommend them.

This is a year old thread...

They have a bushmaster ad on the front page of their website. :scrutiny:

My experience with the good online retailers is that they'll ship you a replacement (sometimes immediately based only on a phone call).

No they don't. Read the list of services and the list of prices.
You mean this?
