I only have five 45s, and am thinking it's time to get another. I have two 1911s, two revolvers, and a HK USP. Would like another 45 just to have another option to take to the range. I mainly collect military pistols, so there aren't many options in 45. Police use would be okay though.

So far my possible want list is:
SIG 220
Beretta PX4
S&W 4506

The problem with these gun though is that I have all of them already, just in different calibers. What else is out there?

By the way, I don't want any of these:
1911, or copies
Glock
Ruger
Kahr

I was going to say get another 1911 as I have 7, but other than that I love my XD-45's so that's my choice.

I only have six 1911, but most of them are in 38 Super. The XD is a good possibility. I shot one in 40 and it was pretty nice. Is the 45 version Springfield only? I would rather get an original HS2000.

Sig P220 gets my vote. Or a CZ 97.

Hadn't heard about the CZ 97 before. Have wanted to get a CZ 75 for a while, so why not one in 45.

What about the "HK45" ? Much better ergonomics than the USP styles. Plus the O-ring barrel like the MK23, and you can carry "cocked & locked" like your 1911.

I also like the Sig P220, but you said you had one in a different caliber??? Did you mean a P220 in something besides .45, because I've never seen a P220 in any caliber but .45

If you don't have a Sig P220....then you need to add one to the roster. I'm looking for another 220 myself but I want the single action only SAO model. ( you can never have too many cocked & locked pistols on tap )

Already have a HK USP. Doesn't seem worth it to get an upgraded version right now. It is tempting though.

The SIG P220 originally came in 9mm. I have the SIG P6 which is the compact version of the 220.

Wow!
You seem to know an awful lot more about what you don't want, than what you do want.

Maybe you should "test/try" all of those you think you want, and those you think you don't?

Or better yet, try several and pick what YOU like best.

If I were going to get a .45 that wasn't a 1911 I think the following would be of the most interest to me:

HK45

FNP 45 tactical.

I have danced around with questions like this but have never actually laid down cash on a non 1911 semi-auto .45. With the cost of sending .45 Auto downrange I personally can't justify using anything but one of my Colts- But I'm a nut.

The only one that strikes my fancy was made in Mexico City. It uses rotating barrel operating principle and is chambered for the 11,43x23 cartridge. The rest of the stuff does not interest me but might be of interest to you.

Yeah, the Obregon pistol. A little out of my price range right now, but it would be awesome to get one. Right up there with the Shansei Aresenal Model 96, Savage 1907, Colt 1905, Liberator and the 1906 Luger. :D

You don't have a striker fired 45. I'd go Glock, but since you have ruled that out I'd look at M&P and XD. In that order.

My Sig 220 was love at first holding. It just fits my hand very well. I've shot over 10,000 rounds through it and am very very happy. If you don't have one I would suggest it as your next purchase.

"I've never shot one of those. Handled one at a gun store and wasn't impressed. Just didn't seem like the quality was there."

The FNs all seem too "fake" or "toy-like" to me. And that's coming from a GLOCK guy! LOL... The FNP-45 is fantastic though with the highest capacity you'll find in a .45. I just don't like the feel.

Just picked up p220 and shot it today. Best 45 I have ever shot, soft shooting, accurate, love the trigger

I recently purschased a new Sig P220, came with the factory slim grips, night sights, I love it!

Handle a CZ97, they are a big gun and dont fit good in small hands.

Believe me the quality is definitely there in the fnp-45. I've got kimbers glocks s&w and the fnp-45 is easily my favorite of all my 45's
