Help me choose XD9c or XD9sc

I have both and barely notice a difference in when shooting them. Since I have small hands, the XDSC fits better in some ways.

get the subcompact, you can always use an extended magazine with the sleeve for casual target stuff or a reload

The compact in 9mm might be surprising. I'd suggest you try to shoot one. I've owned a few XD's and generally do not like compacts. I'd have to admit thought that the XD Compact I owned in .40 was exceptional. Especially in the area of recoil. Something about the ergos, or the design, or "I don't know why" but the recoil was the mildest .40 I've fired. Really almost unbelievable. I have full size .40's by other makers that are so snappy, with so much barrel rise, you wonder if they were even tested when developed. They should have looked at the XD's in recoil.

I've noticed with the XD's, glocks, etc that there really isn't much difference in shootability between the sizes. I personally would get the smallest one that fit my hand well

It's like the G19 or G26 discussion. I'd go with the G19 or XD9SC instead of the smaller. I like the fit of the slight larger frame and the slight difference in size doesn't affect how I carry. It'll depend on how you intend on carrying your weapon; the smaller one is easier to conceal.

Oh no...not another one!!

I carry the XD sc9 in a supertuck and love it. fun to shoot and conceals well on me. The extended grip would give you added capacity, but i think that would give a whole heck of a lot more printing under your shirt. consider upping the sights to tritium...either trijicon or meprolight i believe make them reasonably priced.
