Sig P226 Conversion or Mosquito

If it is just a choice between those two options, I would rather have the conversion kit. The downside is, it's almost the same money to buy an entry level Ruger or Beretta 22LR pistol.

If you are wanting a trainer for your 226 then go with the conversion. The mosquito is 90% the size of a 226 but 10% is quite a bit a very noticeable. I have a mosquito and it is good to go. You will read alot of negative opinions but if you use CCI mini mags and clean it you will have no problems. That has been my experience.

Definitely not in love with my old mans Mosquito, I'd go for the conversion kit.

^^^This. The wife's Mozzie has been 100% with MiniMags and genuine SIG metal magazines. Clean & wet is what it likes.

But it is a bit smaller than her SP2022. I can't hit a barn with the Mozzie but she does OK.

I've never shot one, but some people hate the Mosquito. I understand that it is not made by Sig.

If you want a P226 trainer, then get the conversion.

Train on what ya' run. The quality of those conversion kits seem pretty high. I'm likely dropping one of my prized Benelli .22's to buy a Glock 19 with the .22LR kit, based on what I've read.
Wish I could get one for an H&K that didn't cost about the same as the total economic output of Brazil or some mid-size and growing country.

I couldn't disagree more.
The Mosquitos at my club don't do very well as far as accuracy or reliability, plus they have poor triggers.
The conversion gives you practice with your full size pistol and it's trigger, grip shape, etc...
The Sig conversion I had for my P220 was very accurate. Reliability was very good after a break in.
I've had .22 conversions for a 1911, Beretta 92G, Sig and now the Kadet for the CZ 75. I've enjoyed all of them.

i had a conversion kit for my p220. the mags are not the best and the rounds tend to get hung up some plus since a 22 doesn't have much recoil if the frame rails were not dripping wet it would start having feed issues. for the price of the conversion kit you can buy two 500 round bulk packs of ammo in 9mm or 40

If it's in your budget, a P226 Classic 22 might work well for you. You'll get an entire new .22lr pistol on the same frame as your current one.
