@kenneth- that's an easy choice then! Not sure why some people are like that. Maybe they don't like doing transfers since they're soooo hard or they get sour if you don't buy from them and jack up their fees? Whatever i guess.

$25 for the process and phone call - however, I rarely use him for transfers, because he beats the internet pricing. I tell him what I want, he finds it and gives me his OTD cash price - including tax, check, etc. - and it has always beat Bud's prices by $10-15 plus the transfer fee

Yup.

But to give credit where credit is due. They carry a BIG inventory, and the staff is very knowledgeable about the product as well as legal stuff.

20 + tax at the local pawn shop

10 bucks for a fellow a couple of hours away, I'll hit him up if I'm headed that direction for something

Gander Mtn is 35 here(never used, phone quote)
LGS is 50(never used)

To ship a firearm from the LGS to another FFL is 75 + shipping and he sells new 10/22's for 250(give or take) and used/abused 10/22's for 300(go figure?)

Granted these were his prices the last time I visited him, about 8 years ago

This is why Ive never bought a single thing from Buds. I have no reason too.. If im in the market for a new product/gun my FFL will order me whatever I want for a competitive price that it isnt worth the hassle.

For transfers from another dealer, the LGSs here get $100-125

Geesh... I can understand some charging an uplift for "new" guns they could have ordered for you. However, old guns that are not being produced/collector pieces/ or any other odd ball that someone wants is highway robbery..

$50 and they treated me like a criminal through the process.

The smaller gun shop a little further away but charges $25 and is owned by a great guy and his son.

Guess which one I will do all my future FFL transfers through?

I have an FFL that does not gouge, at least for here. $25 if I am buying from him, $35 for private sale

Why would he charge you a transfer fee for buying from him? Last I heard an NICS fee was $2.

Yep - it's not worth getting upset over, but it doesn't earn them any loyalty, either....one of the transfer dealers did over 2,000 transfers last year. Nice supplemental income for a retiree. The other quit his day job and went full-time.

The LGSs here hold their prices pretty high, but still seem to sell every gun they can get.

maybe it has to do with CA... not sure but every single time I have bought a firearm it has been at least $25. Another resident from bakersfield responded earlier about the state setting the private transfer fee. I thought that was the case, but a LGS charged me $45 for it a couple of months ago... I have not been back.
