Yup.that's an easy choice then! Not sure why some people are like that. Maybe they don't like doing transfers since they're soooo hard or they get sour if you don't buy from them and jack up their fees?
$25 rifle/shotgun, $30 handgun
My guess would be it has to do with a called in background checkWhy the separate charge I wonder? its not like its a different 4473..
I tell him what I want, he finds it and gives me his OTD cash price - including tax, check, etc. - and it has always been Bud's prices by $10-15 plus the transfer fee
For transfers from another dealer, the LGSs here get $100-125
I have an FFL that does not gouge, at least for here. $25 if I am buying from him, $35 for private sale
Yep - it's not worth getting upset over, but it doesn't earn them any loyalty, either....one of the transfer dealers did over 2,000 transfers last year. Nice supplemental income for a retiree. The other quit his day job and went full-time.Geesh... I can understand some charging an uplift for "new" guns they could have ordered for you. However, old guns that are not being produced/collector pieces/ or any other odd ball that someone wants is highway robbery..
maybe it has to do with CA... not sure but every single time I have bought a firearm it has been at least $25. Another resident from bakersfield responded earlier about the state setting the private transfer fee. I thought that was the case, but a LGS charged me $45 for it a couple of months ago... I have not been back. Why would he charge you a transfer fee for buying from him? Last I heard an NICS fee was $2.
I can understand an FFL holder charging a modest fee for recieving, entering in his/her book, and otherwise taking responsibility for someone else's firearm. However, charging a fee for the NICS check seems a little d-bagish.Last I heard an NICS fee was $2.
Interestingly enough,I have never charged a fee for, nor payed a fee for a NICS check, nor has the FBI EVER charged me to run them for me.....Why would he charge you a transfer fee for buying from him? Last I heard an NICS fee was $2.
