Advice? 357 Sig bullet with cannelure

The 357 Sig does use .355 bullets same as 9mm.
How ever, last I checked I just used a regular taper crimp on it as my bullets do not have a cannelure on it.

You must use a Hollow Point or a Flat Point style bullet due to it being a bottle neck cartridge. I tried a round nose profile and it was a waste of time.

Why?

While some say it is recomended. most don't use a cannelured bullet. I was always going to make my own tool but never had an issue with the bullets moving. I use Berrys 124 gr hbfp & fp bullets, Nosler 125gr jhp's, Hornady 125 gr Hap, and Rainiers 124gr hp's( I think their fp also). Others use speers 125gr hp and a few others, Non of these have a cannelure. To keep good neck tension I use a RCBS sizer( I also have a hornady,it sizes the neck a thou bigger), I don't bell the mouth at all, I have a chamfer tool that I put a small chamfer on the mouth id so it doesn't dig into the copper. When seating a bullet I take a little more time and make sure the bullet is starting perfect( due to no bell, to prevent crushing a case), I like the Hornady seater for this because of the bullet guide. Then a decent taper crimp( I use a Dillon for this), just have to test by pushing against the table to see if the bullet moves easily.
Or cycle the dummy rounds through the gun( let the slide slam home, just like it would when firing). After 2 or 3 cycles bullet should only be setback a couple thou. If more than .01", retry crimp setup. You should be good to go.

I don't use bullets with cannelures for my 357 SIG ... no problems so far.

I mainly use the Hornady 124 gr XTP ....

I think what we are trying to say is "not many" are using cannelured bullets. If they do they use a tool to put one in themselves so it is in the right spot. I really don't think there is a bullet made just for the Sig, so any cannelure in a bullet won't work. Good luck.

I don't use a cannelure. I use nosler 124 JHPs and the Lee FCD and mine hold fine. With the FCD, make sure not to overdo it with 357 SIG.

Use AA#9 and you won't need to sweat setback because it's full of powder.

I use Berry's FP and HBFP, no cannelure, and pay close attention to neck tension. I had trouble at first by flaring the brass. I stopped doing that and chamfered the necks and now have no problems seating. I have only had to do it once. I use AA#9 with 12.8gr. I have never had a bullet setback issue. I also use the Lee FCD with a slight crimp.
