1911 help

C3, RCS, and the Traditional Compact are from the Sig Sauer lineup. I just bought the RCS. I like them better than the Kimber or Colt CCOs, although I own 1911s from both of those companies as well.

I have a Kimber SS Ultra (3") Carry II w/CT in 45acp. The fit on this gun is very good and has not missed a lick in 2500+ rounds. If you want a compact carry gun these are great. Extremely accurate with the right ammo can shoot 1.5" groups at 25yrds. Now the UCII (Al frame) is not designed to be a high round range gun, made for CC. If you want a range gun you want steel or SS frames.

ATI and Dan Wesson also makes high quality guns that fit your needs. Sig 220 may fit but not a 1911 design.

You have a lot to look at just depend on your price range...

What you want is referred to as a CCO size. You should seriously consider a Dan Wesson.

And I believe the Sig RCS is just a regular compact/officer size, not a 4" barrel.

CCO: Commander slide, 4.25" (sometimes 4"); Officer frame (usually aluminum, occasionally steel).

Near the Kimber's price point, hard to beat Dan Wesson's CCO -- you rarely find a disappointed owner. Colt has one, too. Smith & Wesson's is called the 1911 Compact ES. STI's Guardian is all steel

At a slightly higher price point, Les Baer's Stinger, also all steel.

And then at the higher end price points (before going full custom), Guncrafter Industries builds an all steel CCO, and Nighthawk or Wilson offer steel and aluminum versions with a lot of options to customize.

Commanders are a full size frame and 4.25" barrel, officers are the smaller frame and 3.5" barrel. The CCO's are an officers frame and a commander barrel/ slide. The Kimber you are looking at is (sort of) a CCO.

Like Olympus said, you should take a look at Dan Wesson's CCO sized 1911's.

No, the RCS has a 4.2 inch barrel. It should be a CCO style 1911.

If you can find a Colt CCO 1911 they're a good buy, I love my Colt TALO edition CCO.

The Dan Wessons are also very nice, definitely worth a look.

My primary carry pistol is the SIG RCS 1911 4.2" barrel on a compact frame, Novak night sights. Incredibly good shooter, runs flawlessly, such a good shooting pistol I used it in a Steel Challenge match. Even with only 6 and 7 round magazines I never had to go to slide lock on any stage.

Another +1 for the Dan Wessons. They are the finest PRODUCTION 1911s. No Plastic or MIM parts but they are a little more expensive than the Kimbers.

Just checked and yes it is. Also, Sig offers an all stainless steel CCO in their "Traditional" line-up called the Traditional Compact Stainless.
