I've seen the question about 10-round limit affecting carry in a couple of threads, but not one with a poll to go with it. While I am not assuming that a ban is going through in general, for the purpose of this thread, assume a ban on the manufacture or sale of magazines with a capacity of more than 10 rounds is put into place. How would this affect your carry?
The way I see it, there are six options, which are in the poll:
1) Already carry less, would not affect. For those who carry a compact .45, a sub-compact, a single-stack, or a revolver, a 10-round limit would have no effect.
2) Already have magazines, would not affect. For those who have enough "high capacity" magazines to last through the ban, the ban would have no effect.
3) Do not carry, would not affect. Some people just don't carry (or can't legally carry), so a ban wouldn't change that.
4) Would carry larger caliber. If the reason you chose 9mm for your S&W M&P is because it holds 17 rounds, and the .45 holds 10, with a limit in place you might opt for the .45.
5) Would carry smaller platform. If the reason you carry a full size instead of a compact is capacity, you may want to go from a G17/19 to a G26.
6) Would carry limited magazines in same platform. You might like the gun you have now, in terms of how it fits and how it shoots, but just not have a large stockpile of magazines. Purchasing more magazines going forward would have to be limited.
Like I said, I'm hoping the ban fails, and I'm going forward assuming it will. However, there is a chance we will have a restriction, and if it happens I'm already working in my head how I will deal with that, since I own pistols with >10 round capacity and not a whole lot of magazines. Personally, I think I'd opt for a larger caliber if a limit is put in place.
