Does anyone know of any private sellers that will be at the Saxet Gun Show in Austin this weekend?

Yes, was asking about specific private sellers that you may be aware of. Any recommendations? My father would like to go straight to their tables...

The tables I've seen in the past that look like private sellers typically have either high value high priced guns or average, usually used guns for high prices.

I'm debating if I want to go to the show at all. Maybe to people and price watch.

I'm going. Probably will see the 'entrepreneur' who's been showing up at WalMart every morning and buying up ALL the ammo to sell at the show for three times what he paid for it.

If they are a private seller then they are allowed to only be selling from their private collection, won't likely have a huge selection and likely won't be a regular vendor. If they are acquiring new guns to sell between shows they would require an FFL. Given you don't even mention a specific firearm your question comes off sounding odd.

Your answer is odd given you didn't really answer my simple question. Do you know of or recommend any private seller(s) that will be at the show?

Tx-cz, its kind of hard to recommend a private seller at the show. I mean if one of us or a friend were selling...we could help you out. Otherwise? Who the heck knows who will be at the show and with what?

What are you looking for? Are you familiar with the small shops in and around ATX?

Your question comes off as if there is a specific reason you need to find a "private" seller.
The Odd part : If the reason is that the buyer (your father) is unable to purchase from a dealer due to legal issues, then personaly I would hope that all sellers follow the law , including the private sellers.

"I mean if one of us or a friend were selling...we could help you out.". My father and I haven't been to a gun show in a few years. The last time we went, there were a few private sellers who had tables and were selling small, private collections. Perhaps, this isn't done anymore(?). If it is still allowed (private sellers with tables, then yes, I am seeking recommendations on who they are and what table they would be at.

"Your question comes off as if there is a specific reason you need to find a "private" seller." Buyer's preference. My father just enjoys buying from a hobbyist or enthusiast.

"The Odd part : If the reason is that the buyer (your father) is unable to purchase from a dealer due to legal issues, then personaly I would hope that all sellers follow the law , including the private sellers." My father and I are legal, not in trouble, law abiding citizens and are able to make purchases Personally, we hope the sellers follow the law, too, hence the request for recommendations...

My goodness, some minds are getting carried away here, but I understand and appreciate the hyper vigilance.

"See how easy it is to find a private seller to do an illegal transaction for a convicted fellon at a gunshow? We have to close the loophole now!"

People are understandably a bit paranoid about "odd" questions these days. Most (the vast majority) of sales at shows are dealers (that's why it's not a "swap meet") so specifically seeking out a private seller for no particular reason is a bit "odd"

I'll be there this weekend! But no, I won't be scalping my Five-seveN for 4K$ like I saw last week in Mesquite (though I am tempted ). I assure you there will be more "black rifles" in the hands of private sellers looking to score big than on the tables :D

To answer the OP's question...I will be there with my Remington Model 5 in 22lr as a private seller...unless the laws have changed since the last show I went to.

Tx-cz, then let me put it anothet way. Give tx has no gun registry and there is no federal one it sounds suspicios when one implies they just want to buy any gun so long as there is no background check.

Thanks for all the posts. I was seeking recommendations on private sellers who paid the required fees to set up tables at the shows, which do and did exist. We just wanted to seek the hobbyist seller before talking to vendors. For the record, I was asking about private sellers, not "private" sellers. This was never a hush-hush situation. Again, thanks for the input.

tx-cz,
Oh, you mean the "unlicensed dealers" the antis are always talking about.

breakingcontact,
Kind of limits your buyers pool.

lol "unlicensed dealer" - I guess that would have been a much better way to express the type of seller I was inquiring about. Although, I thought the "table" was a dead give-away... : )
