Biden: New gun controls won't likely end shootings

"Nothing we're going to do is going to fundamentally alter or eliminate the possibility of another mass shooting or guarantee that we will bring gun deaths down to 1,000 a year from what it is now," Biden told reporters Thursday afternoon after he spent over an hour lunching with Democratic senators at the Capitol.

"But there are things that we can do, demonstrably can do, that have virtually zero impact on your Second Amendment right to own a weapon for both self defense and recreation that can save some lives," he said.

SO he admits, nothing they are doing will stop another mass shooting and and then goes on to say "virtually zero impact on your Second Amendment right"

Isnt that like 'sort of being pregnant'?

:banghead:

"What a putz" This guy is the Vice President of the US. This is scary. I hope they really don't let him do much!

...and this is the guy that was put in charge of this "Blue Ribbon Panel".

That is the first thing honest statement I have heard from his mouth. For those keeping score, he's one up on his boss. :)

im surprised this guy remembers to feed himself, much less help run a country.

how much you want to bet he wears velcro shoes......

What he's doing is being smart about it. It's obvious these new laws they're trying to propose aren't going to stop criminals and mass shootings. They know they're not stopping it at its root. So they're covering for themselves and leaving the door open for more bans of more firearms (the slippery slope), while pretending to be about our 2nd Amendment rights.

Just wait till he runs for president in 2016. That is of course unless BHO gets a third term (already being submitted by rep in NY to repeal the 22nd(?) amendment). Not that I think the repeal will go through but then again I foolishly thought my guaranteed freedoms were..... guaranteed.

Mr Biden may be distancing himself from Mr Obama since the true deal Mr Obama has with Mrs Clinton is starting to emerge.

Mr Obama and Mrs Clinton were awfully chummy in the interviews they had with the media earlier in the week.

In other words "We are aware of the facts and statistics, however we will not allow them to get in the way of our dedication to the gun control agenda"

There is no Second Amendment right to recreation.
The Second Amendment was written for much more serious circumstances than passing a lazy Saturday afternoon.

I’m not worried about Reich Marshall Von Amtrak wining a bid for Presidency in 2016. The best he will do is a security guard on the DC express train to Palookaville, provided they allow him to keep his commemorative pair of GI scissors.

Otherwise, he will be will be writing his memoirs about his VP experiences: “Biden, my time”.

New Gun Laws Will Not Stop School Shootings ??
Then what exactly will they do?? Make people "feel good" about doing something??
Biden proves again that he is a certifiable idiot..

So long as he's harmless, let him remain as comic relief.
Hey, the more this guy puts his foot in his mouth the better. I personally find him pretty enjoyable to laugh at.

He's definitely not the best politician.

I'll bet that Obama has regretted picking Joe since the first time around and only went with him a second time because he couldn't choose somebody else without admitting that Biden was a bad choice for his VP.

Biden comforting a worried parent:

"It's okay, ma'am, we're doing everything in our power to accomplish nothing regarding the safety of your little ones. You'll sleep better knowing a whole class of Americans will one day be as vulernable as your children when you are away. And take heart; if I actually pull this off, I will have achieved a career-long goal of mine--and that's what really matters in life"

;)

Q: Then what exactly will they do?? Make people "feel good" about doing something??
A: Thats exactly what all of this amounts too.
Not even that...Have you ever seen an anti "feel good" enough about protect-islation* that they actually felt safe by it, in any way, whatsoever? If anything, these laws terrify them even more, compelling them to ever-increasingly demand more bulwarks against the horrors and absurdities of life. "We must pass anti-gun laws, because it's gotten so bad we just had to pass a bunch of gun laws!" I've come to realize these "sheep" as we often call them actually like being terrified, since this imagined fear is probably the emotional high-point of their bland, bubble-wrapped existence. Eggs dream of being broken.

*Someone, come up with a better contraction for "protection-legislation;" I need a buzzword for the water cooler...

I became more fully aware of this from Timmy4's assertion that he wanted to pass legislation to make society safer so he wouldn't need to ever own a gun.

It's just not realistic. Because criminals don't care about the abstract idea of legislation determining how they behave. You and I care about it, but we'd care about it even if there were no legislation. We still wouldn't hurt other people. The law is not what stops us from doing that - we just wouldn't do it anyhow.
I don't get how they don't understand that laws don't prevent you from doing something. At best, they punish you after you've committed a crime.
