Apparently our illustrious vice president told a meeting of mayors in Washington DC yesterday that he heard the sound of the gunshots from a golf course during the Oct 2, 2002 shooting at the Amish Schoolhouse in Lancaster County, PA.

The only problem is, the closest golf course is 5 miles away and Biden wasn't there that day:

Biden’s claim of brush with gun massacre questioned

Vice President Joseph R. Biden’s claim that he heard the gunshots of a 2006 school massacre while playing golf is raising questions about his veracity or his memory.

Mr. Biden told a meeting of mayors in Washington Thursday that he was about a quarter-mile away from an Amish schoolhouse on Oct. 2, 2006, when a gunman shot and killed five students and wounded five others.

“I happened to be literally — probably, it turned out, to be a quarter of a mile [away] at an outing when I heard gunshots in the woods,” Mr. Biden recounted. “We didn’t know … we thought they were hunters.”

But a search of maps of the area in Lancaster County, Pa., shows the nearest golf course to the site of the shooting, Moccasin Run Golf Club, is about five miles away. Rodney King, the golf pro at Moccasin Run, said Friday he was working at the course on the day of the shooting and never saw Mr. Biden, who was then a U.S. senator.

“There’s a lot of things here that I find hard to believe,” Mr. King said. “I looked in my database, and he [Mr. Biden] is not in my database.”

Even if Mr. Biden had played at the course that day, Mr. King said, “It’s very far-fetched that he would have heard it.”

“I know he didn’t hear those gunshots,” Mr. King said. “They were inside the school. Even if they were outside, he wouldn’t have heard them.”

A spokeswoman for the vice president did not return a request seeking comment Friday. Mr. Biden told the story as he was describing for the mayors’ group the Obama administration’s efforts to enact new gun-control laws.

This is what he said:

“I happened to be literally — probably, it turned out, to be a quarter of a mile [away] at an outing when I heard gunshots in the woods,” Mr. Biden recounted. “We didn’t know. … We thought they were hunters.”

The vice president, who owns two shotguns, apparently was on a golfing trip, although he didn’t specify the reason he was there.

“As I got back to the clubhouse of this outing and saw helicopters, it was a shooting that had just taken place in a small Amish … school just outside of Lancaster, Pennsylvania. So it’s not just big cities or well-to-do suburbs. It can happen anywhere.”

Now we all know that you can't believe anything that comes out of Biden's mouth, we need to call them on the carpet about this.

It's good we caught him in the lie, but honestly I don't see this as being too big of a win for us. It was just sensationalism to put himself there.

Why the hell haven't me made it a law yet that if any elected official is found lying about any matter, it is grounds for immediate termination.......?

That would be a slippery slope M-Cameron. Don't say I'm being nit-picky because you know the divided politicians we have nowadays would do this. "He said 44.3% agree with him but in reality it's 43.4%, therefore he lied and needs to be removed from office!" Plus it would be grounds for politicians to never change their minds, which would mean that any campaigning we do is worthless.

"I said in my election that I support gun control, but I've received thousands of letters saying 'don't take away my guns'. These citizens have convinced me of their position, but unfortunately I'm bound by the no-lying clause, and in order to prevent my opponents from declaring me politcally defunct, I will have to vote in favor of this gun control."

I will agree that outright lies, half-truths, and the like should not be received with a "slap on the wrist".

Biden is a compulsive liar. During the 2008 campaign, he told a crowd the heart rending tale of his first wife's death at the hands of a drunk driver............while she did die in a car accident, the other driver was not drunk, Biden just adds that part for sympathy votes.

Biden has been an idiot for a long time. The think he thinks he's a LEO and can lie to make a point or get the response he wants.

Every lie we expose reduces their credibility with the uninformed.

Sorry to vehemently disagree with you, but it will make absolutely no difference with the uninformed, also known as the "low information voter".

They get their information from the mainstream news media which hate guns and is will willing to lie to protect anti-gunners.

They love Biden, and even though he has been caught in numerous lies in the past, and has uttered seriously deranged and stupid statements repeatedly, they only titter about it and move on.

The "low information" voter is far more interested in Lance Armstrong's confession to Oprah or Manti Te'o fantasy girlfriend, than they are in politics. It would be different if the mainstream press was honest and fair, but it is not.

Why is the Washington Times wasting ink to tell us that Biden is a lying (again)? This isn't news.

Now, if he ever told the truth that would certainly be newsworthy!

Crazy Uncle Joe could hear the sniper's bullets as they smacked the tarmac all around Hillary in Bosnia...he's had that power since he was bitten by that radioactive spider.....

I think he was caught plagiarizing something in college too. He's been a dishonest person his whole life. What a perfect description for a politician.
