It appears that there is a CHANCE that the new AWB will not pass in the House of Representatives. This is a good thing with a doubt.

However, it seems that a lot of people are now resting on their laurels like it is a sure thing and then the whole issue will be over. That is NOT the case!

This is behavior is exactly what the Anti-2A people want from us. They are not going to give up on their agenda of stripping away our legally owned firearms. They would love for the people in what they call "the flyover states," to go back to their daily routines and feel secure once again in their RTKBA.

It's like boxing legend M. Ali did to his opponents. It is a classic "rope-a-dope" routine. You fight hard at first. Then you let your opponent gain a slight point advantage. They quickly become over-confident. Then in the late rounds when they are coasting along and start to let their guard down a little...then BAM! BANG! BOOM! You sneak in a bunch of good hits and knock them out for the win.

Don't fall for this scheme. We must keep our guard up and not get too relaxed. This fight is nowhere near over and we cannot underestimate our opponents. Doing so, is falling right into their trap.

We are fighting the leader of the (not for much longer, if he gets his way) free world, extremely wealthy elitists, mainstream media and groups people that make decisions based on emotions rather than logic.

Keep your gloves up. Your eyes open. Be ready for a long dirty fight.
 
So far NRA hasnt called for a nationwide protest rally .. A Pro 2A Rally in Washington DC should at least be planned.
 
I agree! However, it is difficult for regular working class Americans to take off work, travel to D.C. and protest.

The liberals can do it because a lot of are college kids, wealthy elitists, misinformed housewives, welfare recipients and with no jobs or real world responsibilities.

That said, if they put out a call for one. I would try my absolute best to attend such a rally.

Plus it is asking serious Second Amendment supports to suspend their RKBA or break the law. I mean...District of Criminals...who wants to go there?
 
Very true!

On a side note, a lot my wife's family lives in California. I fly her out there to visit them about once a year. I am invited to join her every year. They have even offered to pay for my ticket, take me to Disneyland, et cetera. Annually, I decline the invitation because of political reasons.
 
I read somewhere on here that the antis lose steam (and support) quite quickly after the usual push that they make when they are lucky enough to get a massacre.
This makes sense. The public is understandably horrified when a massacre happens, and they hear the spiel from the antis and agree with it (unless they actually go to the trouble to do some research)
A couple of weeks later, and Joe Public is too busy worrying about their tax return and the price of gas.
I believe that this is the reason that Cuomo pushed the NY law through so fast, he knew that he had to do it fast before the dust settled.

Complacency is our biggest enemy right now. The public is losing interest in the antis, but we will never lose interest in our 2A rights.

What we need to do now is push even harder and not only claw back the little ground that we lost, but also claim some more.

That's how you win these battles.
 
you'd think the last two presidential elections showed America what complacency can do.
 
It is not only that the public loses interest. It is that while they have interest, some of them get educated and neutralized or converted to the pro-freedom side. We have facts and rationality on our side. They do not. Over the long term, if people really start looking at the issues, we win.

Now that the working class is a minority, the future doesn't bode well. If Hillary does two terms, the die will be cast. Liberal friends scoff: "The govt will never come for your guns."

Absolutely!!!!! Let's keep pushing. They are slowing down and if we keep beating the drum, we can push them back!!!
(why do I feel like this is a good comparison to the Korean War and we're fighting back and forth over the 38th parallel?)
 
RE: Push back.

Some things I would personally like to see changed:

Re-open machine gun registration.
Reduce minimum age of FFL transfer of handguns to 18 (and ammo for handguns to 18 as well of course)
Drop paperwork time for an NFA stamp from 6-8 months to 6-8 weeks.
Get rid of the stupid BATFE points system that keep firearms from being imported because they are ruled to lack sufficient "sporting purpose"
 
The good fight is still being fought. Ther is a chance the AWB won't get out of committee, and if it does, it might not even get out of the senate. I'm not even worried about the House yet, but I'm still sending correspondence to my Reps. My senators are a lost cause on gun control, though, but I have still made my opinions known.

Some of the initial furor has died down, but I have a feeling most peoe are still fighting for our rights, even if we are not quite as vocal as we were at the outset. Here on THR, we're preaching to the choir, so to speak.
