I posted this to FB, probably going to tick a few people off. Just wanted the opinions of some here if it is overly-aggressive, just about right or not enough:

Attention to all of my friends here: We're pretty much all on the same page regarding the legislation being pushed through here in CO to infringe on our right to keep and bear arms. I am saddened, however, by the number of people who will piss and moan about it, but are too goddam lazy to even write an email or make a phone call to the congresscritters and the governor of our state in defense of our rights. If you know such people, PLEASE, implore them to take an hour out of their day and do this. If we don't get a loud enough, clear enough message to the senate and our governor, these ridiculous bills WILL BECOME LAW! That means numbers, as in numbers of phone calls, emails, faxes and paper letters urging them against this.

I have sent over 5 dozen emails, several paper letters, made many, many phone calls, taken 3 days off work this month (unpaid; I'm self-employed) to be at the capitol in protest/opposition testimony, spent my hard earned money on fuel and parking to do so, in addition to significant contributions to the NRA and RMGO. Please honor my efforts and those of others who have made such sacrifices by at least contacting your representatives and John Hickenlooper.

This is the fight of our generation here in Colorado; let's not forfeit because it's inconvenient to spend just a little bit of time and effort opposing this legislation. If these bills are signed into law, you will:

-Not be able to buy OR sell any magazines holding more than 15 rounds

-Not be able to loan a firearm to or borrow a firearm from anyone outside of your immediate family (cousins, step-parents, in-laws, etc, are NOT considered immediate family under this law) without a background check.

-Pay for each background check, and the fee is not fixed; They could make it $1,000 if they want to.

-Not be able to carry concealed in any college campus structures OR facilities used by a college, including stadiums, lecture halls, etc.

Let's beat this garbage! Tell them no, we want real solutions, not garbage that disarms the law abiding and emboldens criminals. Tell them to actually start PROSECUTING the criminals who violate current gun laws before we even talk about new ones.

Yes, I know this post is aggressive. It has to be. And let's be honest; If it offends you, that means you're one of those who hasn't made any effort in this fight.

We all have busy lives, and I know it sucks to take time for this stuff. But it has to be done, and it's up to each one of us.

Thank you for taking the time to read!

Opinions wanted

Mods: Please humor the couple of border-line words. Without those included, people will not be able to judge what I've written honestly and effectively.

I believe that your tone is about right. The letter doesn't sound too aggressive especially considering what is at stake for your state if these provisions become law. I am right next door in Kansas and I too have written/called all of my state and federal senators and representatives to let them know where I stand on these issues and where I expect them to stand as my representative. Fortunately the representatives for my district are all staunch social conservatives and constitutionalists so my letters have been more of the nature of encouragement and reassurance that they still have the support of the constituants that elected them no matter that the MSM has demonized them and others who have stood for the constitution.

The sad thing about your FB post is that you had to make it in the first place. I too have written my state reps, and even the president (not that he cares). It amazes me as a nation as a whole, that once we vote we seem to end our political activism until the next election.

I don't have FB but I wonder if you could do a poll on FB and ask people to leave a signature and then forward that on to your state reps. Is that possible?

LOL

My FB postings are not nearly as P.C. as you r's.

I am standing tall to fight for the rights of us all and being 'nice' about a fight is not in my vocabulary.

Its hard to get punched in the gut and be "nice" so I forgo being nice until I see my RIGHTS being taken seriously.

I think you were very nice and polite.

Plus, there are folks who complain, but are not active menbers of the NRA.
They want their cake and be able to eat it as well.

"Please honor my efforts and those of others who have made such sacrifices by at least contacting your representatives and John Hickenloope..."

I'd lose the bold, or use another word instead of "honor", it comes across as self aggrandizing.

"And let's be honest; If it offends you, that means you're one of those who hasn't made any effort in this fight. "

I'd put something else instead of this, its unnecessary and doesn't persuade. Use it to emphasize the need to do something, maybe.

If you have more you could write about not prosecuting crimes- some examples- that would be good.

And the non fixed cost for the background check is good, too. Might get the fudds motivated, or anyone who might want a firearm at some point and isn't really interested in the ban. I'd emphasize that a bit more, and use any relevant examples that come to mind. And/or maybe play on most Americans distrust of government.

Otherwise, looks good to me. The tone doesn't seem too strong given the situation.

I met with some lazy pieces of crap gun owners Wednesday. They all told me how the magazine ban was okay with them and that they would just violate it anyway. I wanted to slap them all.

If it's alright with you Mach, I'm going to drill them with most of the text in your post. I figure you said it about as well as I could and I like the aggressive tone, so I'll copy/paste into emails to these guys, I'll give them the email addresses and fax numbers to the Senate and hopefully if I hand them all the tools and opportunity to get involved, they will get off their subservient butts and send an email or two.

Feel free to use anything I've written to help our cause!

I debated about writing that part, decided to go forth with it because it kinda puts in perspective the extent that some of us are going to, (hopefully) making it seem less encumbering to simply write a few emails. I'm shooting for the "well, if some people will do all that, I guess I can at least do this" attitude.

After the last 4+ year's Im prety sure Im on a list some where.
Even my family keeps telling me to settle down,Aint hapenning!
Our country, history and future is at stake,Will our grand children even
know what they've lost, how we even became the greatest nation on Earth.
They are already tring to change history books eliminating or changing facts.

If you know such people, PLEASE, implore them to take an hour out of their day and do this.

You could even lower this number. It takes much less time to at the very least send an e-mail. At the federal level, I was able to contact my legislators, the Speaker, and POTUS. Even without copy/pasting the entire process took less than 20 minutes. Had I thought to just copy and paste, it would have taken closer to 10.

Too harsh? Hell no, it's not harsh enough. Shame those that do not stand up for their rights, in any and all ways possible.

It is very appropriate. Lazy and/or stupid gun owners who won't write their elected officials, nor support the gun rights groups, make me mad as hell!

It almost seems your message is not forceful enough. The time for PC is OUT!

When our opponents in public call us "paranoid""nut jobs" etc it's time to forcefully wake the sleeping complacent among us right the hell up!

Never be vulgar or profane. There are plenty of ways to express yourself strongly without stooping to that.

Not calling anyone names, but I am calling gun owners who haven't made any effort in this fight lazy, because it is true.

As for using some borderline profane words, well, you guys know me. I can certainly articulate my points without them, but I also know my audience on FB, and it's not the same one as here or the general public; I have exactly one "friend" on there who I have never met personally. Sparing use of profanity can emphasize effectively with certain audiences, and can serve to make the point that you're more than a little perturbed about an issue.

I thought it was ok for Facebook. Anywhere else and I would "clean it up" a little to maintain credibility - but on your personal Facebook page it should work. And I agree. I'm not in Colorado - but we have idiots proposing crazy GC laws here as well. And I have been burning up the Mo and Fed reps e-mail addresses about them as well...:D
