Long ago I built a CNC router. Have used it on many projects in the past, most often it sits idle though. From carved boxes to wall hangings, to some custom grips for a friends Llama double stack, to model airplane stuff... mostly carved wood, a little plastic here and there. I've fiddled with aluminum a few times, it can do it, but it's more of a mess than its worth.

Just curious on ideas on making stuff for reloading using the CNC. While it's pretty accurate, it's not good enough for gun smithing or similar things, but I'm thinking shell holders for reloading, holders for my turret's that have dies in them.. just wondering what I might not be thinking about since I'm just getting into reloading.

Here are some examples of stuff cut with it just so you can get a visual.

(the grips were made because he couldn't find any out there, he made plaster molds of the handle of the gun, and sent me some example rubber one's that had expanded and no longer fit, and I just measured and drew in cad, cut and tested... the one on the gun was a test fit piece I made for him, then I had to modify the holes and made a test set out of some scrap corian)

Those blocks are exactly what I was thinking of.. one of the few things I could think of... ;) Thanks.

I didn't think about that. Thanks.

BTW, hello fast boat guy. I was a boomer guy.

I have built tons of stuff using all kinds of equipment. This is one that there is no limit.

Bet HE could make a killer looking wood-based annealer. He needs to buy your blade for a pattern! :) I was thinking of using my scroll saw to fancy up the box....all I need is time. Not going to happen this month.

It would have no problems making a lot of the parts for case and bullet collators, both plastic.

How about range blocks for revolvers?

IMG_2138.jpg

This one is for my Ruger GP100 and holds 60 rounds. I made a pattern using my speedloader as a guide and then drilled the holes on my drill press so they were all the same depth. Very handy at the range as you just slip the speedloader over a set of six rounds, lock them in and reload your revolver. I also made a 5 round version for my SP101.

I am presently working on another one that is smaller, is curved and will fit in a belt pouch that I'll make from leather.

Good ideas from everyone, thanks. I've jotted them all down to look into and potentially work on as I go. This weekend is dedicated to cleaning and re-organizing my shop to get ready for reloading..
