I want to get dual pistols...

Need more information. What task do you want these two pistols to perform?

Unless you are Neo, Morpheus, or Trinity, you probably only need to be shooting one gun at a time.

I suspect that the pistols should have a limitless ammo supply and bad-guy seeking bullets. That would go along with the hollywood-themed two handed shooting.

Get out to some gun stores and check prices. Then realize that your budget will allow you a pair of cheap mouse guns. Really think about what you're asking for and then save more for a bigger budget.

There are plenty of S&W revolvers that could be had by the pair for under $500. Probably well used, but obtainable.

$450 will get you a used Glock, (new) Springfield Mil-Spec, Beretta, Sig-Sauer, (new) CZ, (new) Ruger....Buy one handgun, and learn to use it well.

To answer your question though- probably the only thing you could get 2 of for $450 are Makarovs or Tokarovs.

If you want to be able to hit targets with anything even approaching accuracy shooting two pistols at the same time you will spend many times the cost of those guns purchasing cases of ammunition.

Ed McGivern has the best advice for learning to shoot two pistols at once:

Learn to shoot well with your strong hand.

Then learn to shoot with your weak hand equally well.

Then start to slowly engage targets with a pistol in each hand.

There is no shortcut, and unless you just want to turn money into noise, there's ultimately no point.

Haven't you seen the movie Shane? You are better off getting one good gun in appropriate caliber for your money.

Heck, even if limited to $450, I'd get a Bulgarian Makarov ($200), a few extra mags ($5 each), nice rubber grips (errr. . .$30 IIRC), and 2000 rounds of ammo ($200-ish). You gotta remember ammo in your budget, lots a ammo.

I think that bang for the buck is good...but cheap isn't the answer.

I shoot gunfighter. I could see quite a few CAS shooters using two handguns and hitting their targets. I do. The choice for my tastes would be dual Firestorm Mini-Max in 45 ACP.

Get two CZ-52's from AIM surplus. $99 bux each.

2 RAP 401 9mm's for 225 a piece, or thereabouts.

I'm not good enough to use 2 pistols at once, but if you are then you should get 2 Kel Tec P-11s. They are compact, light and have DAO triggers so are more ambidextrous than most pistols. They will run you about $450 total including sales tax if you get blue ones.

a pair of heritage rough riders, belt with holster, and second holster. that should leave enough money for, what, five thousand rounds of .22lr?

alternatively, take the cost of ammo for granted, and spend the remaining money on the rest of your new cowboy costume.

Everybody I saw in that class was shooting one pistol, then the other, then the first one again...

Now Neo, on the other hand, could keep a fountain of brass pouring out of two guns simultaneously. No sissy alternating between the two guns for him, no siree.

Heh. Fountain of brass. Yep. Tried it with a Couple Mk IIs, a pair of Berettas (my 92F and another guy's 92FS) and a pair of .45s (645 S&W and a friend's early Kimber 1911). Certainly made a lot of noise. Some of that noise even came from the steel silhouette we were shooting at. Some.

Maybe I shoulda had cool sunglasses.

You can have 2 handguns for your 2 hands. You also have 2 eyes, but unfortunatly only 1 brain so you can only aim 1 handgun at a time.

Dumb Idea, but tons of fun

I am embarrassed to admit that I have tried this two handed shooting idea. My buddy and I both have a Ruger P89. We had some extra ammo and thought we would give it a try. Shooting quickly At 7 yards I can usually keep all of my shots in middle of the target. Let’s say a 6 inch group. I am sure that isn't very good compared to some of you but that is shooting pretty quickly. With two guns both with 15 round mags I was able to get 3 shot on the TARGET!!! It was a ton of fun but was completely a waste of good ammo. If you want to look like a bad/dumb ass then give it a try, if you want to actually learn to shoot better then I would recommend getting 1 gun and shoot it twice as much.

eh, as long as you follow the safety rules, why not have fun? probably end up learning a lot about one's own shooting habits.

easy answer is "Makarov".
