Hi

Just got my first gun, looking for validation of my choice. Kidding! I did a lot of lurking and searching before buying, and what I'm really looking for is something to hold me over until I can afford another trip to the range.

New guy from the Arizona desert. I like shooting and reloading for almost everything I own. There is a lot of reading here that keeps me interested between trips to the range. Thanks everyone for sharing your awesome info.

Hi Everyone,

I just started reloading and gained some good insight on the pages of this forum so I thought I would join. Love everything firearms and constantly trying to increase my knowledge. :D

Hello from Down Under

Mungo here, saying hello to everyone from Victoria, Australia.
Registered on the forum today. Lots of great information here. I look forward to learning a lot, and hopefully contributing a little. A couple of years ago I took early retirement, because I realized that life is short and I wanted to devote more time to my hobbies. Which are, Hunting (Deer and Foxes), Target Shooting with my .303's, and Gold Prospecting. I've done a lot of shooting, but haven't found much gold. Unless you count time spent in the Bush as gold. Then I'm rich.:):):) As for rifles, I've got a Marlin 30-06 and a Winchester .375 Big Bore Lever for Hunting, and a selection of Lee Enfields for Target Shooting. I do a lot of reloading !!!

Now living in Burbank ,CA I am a former Marine Rifle Platoon Commander and now proud owner of a Model 1879 Springfield Trapdoor Carbine made in 1880. Bought it as an investment but am now looking to keep it for competition use.

Greetings from Central Europe

Hi, I come from the Czech Republic and I got my first gun half-a-year ago. I don't have any family members or close friends with guns, so Internet and forums like this are the primary source of information (my grandpa used to do sport shooting when younger, however his tyrannic methods of forcing my father and uncle to train put them both off for good. Grandpa stopped shooting and sold the guns when I was 5...).

Right now I have a CZ 75 Compact D /PCR/ both for range and as a carry gun, but I have already some 8-9 other firearms I plan to buy. I just need to keep it slow to 1-2 gun purchases per year in order not to spend all savings on them at once.

Hi all,

New to the forum and already enjoying it (and learning a ton).

Active duty Sailor in Georgia, currently carrying a Glock but looking for different guns too.

Getting ready to start the handloading thing, if anyone has experience. Cheers!

Hello,fellow members
Hope everyone profits from THR as much as I have in the three weeks I've been here! I had a problem with my reloads cycling in my kimber ultra+ cdpII. With the help of members and staff, problem solved:) The lack of upland game birds brought me to the fancy of handguns, reloading and for reason to numerous to mention, conceal carry. My wife works at a prison is Missouri. I work as an electrician local 545. Be safe and carry often!

Hello, I mostly have Milsurps, for the most part I just like the way they look, but my favorite rifle(and one I'm trying to somewhat restore, just needs the rear sight and a stock) is a K98k

crankshaftrsl is the name, and I'm learning every day how dear my guns are to me. I am a shooting person now as I have out lived most in the group or they have moved that I hunted with. Hopefully I will learn more , but don't like being hit with hands out for money and more money. So I wait and see I guess.

Plain Old Dave checking in. I have always had a weakness for vintage guns of all sorts, military and civilian. Black walnut and blue steel; next year I will be hunting with a Remington Model 14A in .30 Remington and just bought my first selfloader in a good while: A new RIA .38 Super. First new gun in almost 10 years, too. Ran across hso at a gun show today, and found out he was a Mod here. I have learnt a good deal as a nonregistered Guest, and decided to join.

New member here:)

Hello everyone!!
I am new here and anxious to learn, share the knowledge I have with others.
I was into shooting air guns, MMA, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Judo, Ninjutsu, Aikido and anything martial arts, shooting or power lifting.
Those day's are over now. As a government contractor, I was in an "Accident" that broke my back in 4 places (L1, L2, L3, L4) and 8 herniated disks along with having shoulder surgery and having part of my left shoulder removed and being a "lefty", it makes things harder. After waiting 5 years for disability payments to start being deposited, I am still fighting for the 5 years of back pay while I was going broke. I hope it finally comes through as I have another appeal in, as the last one was never read. I could really use it in order to help pay off 5 years of borrowing, medical, medication, gasoline, etc, etc..., just life's necessities.
Well, that's me and here to learn the "finer things" on "The High Road" :)

Hello THR,

New here. I am interested in firearms from most every perspective (self defense, hunting, target shooting, as well as maintaining rights). I'm a chemistry student at Montana State University. I have busy weeks but I usually make it up into the mountains to shoot every weekend. I own an Izhevsk 91/30, a Mossberg 500, and an old Winchester .22 rimfire (Sound like a college student budget???). I'll be 21 next summer. My dad won't buy me handguns, so I'm stuck "pistol less" for another 10 months. The 18" barrel on my shotgun will hold me over until then hopefully. I love to fish, shoot, hike, mountain bike, kayak/canoe, run, etc... I just started hand loading for my 91/30. I will be posting about it soon on a thread starting...ending "IMR-4350... 7.62x54r" if anyone is interested in my data. I really love reading on this website. I use to google questions about firearms all the time and THR threads would always come up so I finally decided to join. I'll see you all in the threads.

Thank you all for being so polite and knowledgeable.

I try to collect as many guns as I can with out the wife knowing about it.....It's like her shoes! A couple of years ago I built a 1851 mountain howitzer on a prairie carriage. It has been a lot of fun! I have to confess, I didn't build the barrel or the wheels. I wanted a safe shootable barrel and I don't need a lot of oak firewood from my wheel construction failures. It has been shot over 100 times with 1/2 pound of cannon powder, safely! At this point I am looking to sell it and move on to maybe build a Gatling gun. Once I figure out how to include pictures I will send them.

Another New Member

After 20 years away from shooting due to time constraints, etc., I got back into it almost a year ago. Things have certainly changed. I stumbled across this forum while researching some guns I was interested in. It's refreshing to find an internet site with members this knowledgable and civil.
