Are Military Folks Allowed to Shoot Recreationally?

Air Guard?? Skunk, I do have some knowledge about shooting, since that's what I did for 20-plus years in the military. I don't know about the AF Reserve, but I do know the Air Nat'l Guard has a match shooting team for M16 and M9. They beat my team more than once. The Army Guard has...

    Alternate defensive weapons

Another post brought a good topic to mind. How about legal alternative weapons for defending yourself if a gun 'aint available? When I was in College, I carried a gun in the trunk of my car, but in the back seat I had a pair of soft ball cleats, a Ball glove and a 34 ounce Louisville slugger...

    it begins....Which rifle

The Garand would be the one I'd pull out of the locker. Accurate, powerful, and reliable. Also will penetrate most body armor and thin-skinned vehicles. Ammo is readily available. If things really went south, I'd either be dead or have alot of other weapons available to me. Lock-n-load...

    Do you rely on cops?

No, I don't rely on the cops. Any time you are justified in using deadly force to defend yourself, you do not have time to call the cops. If you did, deadly force would not be justified! In this world, if you choose to defend yourself against violence, you should be fully prepared to act...

I agree completely that one should have their weapon attached to their body in one way or another when in "condition 1". However there are situations when off-body carry is necessary. I recently took a long road trip through three states. I refuse to be unarmed completely unless it is...

What type of sights do you prefer? Three-dot, bar-and-dot, etc.?

I prefer just plain ol' black sights. I've had all kinds of combos and wound up blacking out all that stuff, or changing sights to plain. It is just easier for me to pick up with my eyes. Also, I have found when I have any dots, bars, stars of whatever on my sights, I lose some fine accuracy...

Do you carry different guns for different situations?

Over the years my "carry gun" has and still does flex with the situation and scenario. Early in my "packing" career, the Browning HP was the choice. Once I became a cop, I still toted the Browning sometimes, but Dept regs forbade it. I carried a 4" SW M19 in 2.5 and 4 inch flavors, loaded...
