Never. My gun goes in the holster when I put it on, and only comes out when I'm back at home putting it away. IMO, you need to get comfortable with wearing and being able to draw it while driving your car. How much faster will it be to draw if you have to think about where it is in the car...

I usually try to see both sides in any debate, but I am very firm in my opinion on this matter. If you are at all uncomfortable with the idea of carrying a 1911 C&L, you should choose another handgun to use. And for the record, I have carried a 1911 of one sort or another for over twenty years...

The bobtail from DW is a true 4.25" pistol. UNless they just changed, they only come with a "normal" single sided safety. Mine was built in May of this year. Best gun I ever saw, fit and finish wise. Then I shot it and, well I used to own a DW bobtail. Good luck.

Kimber's use of an external extractor for an while, and I believe they had at least four different versions before going back to an internal, is one of the main reasons I will no longer consider owning a Kimber. I lost a lot of moey on two guns, and I have a very bad taste for Kimber, even...

Sounds a little high to me. Local shop has em new for $529, can usuall pick up am mint used one for $430-440. Without night sights, and from an individual on a private sale, I wouldn't go more than $425 myself, and would try for $400.

If it is a series 80, it is normal. It doesn't actually have a "half cock", but rather a "safety step", and the hammer will fall from it when the trigger is pulled, supposedly without enough force to fire the gun if it were loaded, but I wouldn't relly try it myself.

Might I suggest a Dan Wesson "bobtail" pistol. I just bought a 10mm version, and it is one sweet pistol. As nice and fit as well as I've ever seen. I suppose "custom" jobs might be better, but i can't really see how.

Take out the thumb safety, lower the hammer, and then remove the MSH.

There P345 comes the closest, but you would have to squint awfully hard to mistake it for a 1911! Did the gun itself say Ruger, or was there a "tag" there that said it was a Ruger? Probably mismarked.
