    DLC Finish on Gun Rails?

Does coating a frame's slide rails with DLC help as far as wear and tear, or the moment the slide cycles the DLC will be ecrapped right off? I've heard that cerakote comes right off as soon as the slide cycles, but haven’t heard anything regarding DLC.

    Do All Revolver Frames Stretch?

Are 357 Ruger Sp101 revolvers below the fatigue limit? On that note, for semi-auto pistols, will the frame slide rails eventually wear out or fail from the slide's metal on metal contact when cycling regardless of fatigue limit?

    What causes elastic distortion?

    Any recommendations for DLC coating?

    Do All Revolver Frames Stretch?

Say I use it for competition, 300k rounds later will it most likely crack the frame?

    Do All Revolver Frames Stretch?

So for a good stainless steel revolver, if shot enough rounds will the frame eventually crack?

    Do All Revolver Frames Stretch?

So with these revolvers the frame should never stretch or crack, even with 357 magnum loads?

    Do All Revolver Frames Stretch?

So if shot enough what will wear out, replaceable parts like the barrel, pins, springs, things like that? But as far as the actual serialized portion, the actual receiver, stretching or cracking or wearing out, even with something like 500k rounds or so, not likely?

    Do All Revolver Frames Stretch?

was told by a gunsmith that all revolvers will eventually have their frames stretched if enough rounds are shot through them. However, I'm wondering if it has more to do with material, such as aluminum vs steel, or if I shoot only 38 special out of a revolver made for 357 magnum, would that...

    Handgun Life

That actually makes sense. I spoke with a Sig Sauer CS rep today who really knew his stuff and he mentioned that all handguns will eventually go. Even a P320 FCU which is just the metal insert. However, as far as metal thinning out, if the metal doesn't fatigue and crack will the slide rails...

    Handgun Life

Prior to getting into competition I always thought that firearms were indestructible and lasted indefinitely. However, I was recently told that, for a semi-auto, each time the slide cycles it scrapes off a miniscule amount of metal from the slide rails. Eventually, the slide rails will get so...

What Companies Cover Wear and Tear?

Just out of pure curiosity, what firearm companies cover normal wear and tear as part of their warranties; for example, a cracked frame or slide that's been completely worn out from shooting 300k rounds, or something like that? I'm curious to know specifically Glock, Ruger, Sig, Kahr, and Smith...

    RIA Preservative or Rust?

I'm wondering if the oil/grease that the RIA guns ship from the factory in, does it turn rust color when it dries? Kind of brownish red? I'm wondering because I have a RIA A2 GI stored from several years ago. The other day I took a peek at it and it still has the original gun oil, which looks...

    Gun Rusting?

Thanks for all the great responses. Lol, I see many surprised that I don't shoot many of my guns. I do have a few to shoot, but mostly I purchase them for collection purposes. I know they're not really collectibles, but I still enjoy collecting them.

    Gun Rusting?

If I live in Southern California, purchase a RIA, a Kahr stainless steel, and a Glock, and never shoot or even ckean them, just store them in their factory case for 10 years, what's the chance that they develop rust?
