    M1 Carbine Help

Carbine pop-off I've seen similar problems...first check and make sure the spring that holds the barrel band on is still square at the contact point, and set at the right height to engage the band, ...that the point on the band it engages is square, ...and tighten the barrel band screw down...

    NFA M-2 Carbine or Thompson

Thanks to all for the good words! I'm in Colorado which allows such things...and already have an M-1, if the gunsmith ever gets done with the barrel swap and new bolt. Thanks for all the help and encouragement! Paperpunchr

    NFA M-2 Carbine or Thompson

I'm interested in the possibility of a legal M-2 Carbine or Thompson, a decent shooter, not a collector grade or rare museum piece...naturally at a reasonable price. Can someone point me in the right direction? Paperpunchr

My Revolver Skills (or lack thereof)...

Ball and dummy drill You might also try having a range partner load the gun for you with a couple of snap caps mixed into each load, at random positions, or a couple of live rounds mixed in with mostly snap caps. See if what you're doing involves anticipating or flinching from those hefty...

    7.62 Nagant questions

Nagant Ammo from Reed Research I've gotten some Nagant ammo from Reed's Ammo and Research, it seems a bit more potent than either the fiocchi or old Soviet target ammo, but I don't have a speed trap to tell for sure. It costs less than Fiocchi, but more than surplus. Seems to me the russian...

    Your most enjoyable gun

Gotta be the M-1 Carbine...but the Yugo SKS comes close For just plain fun, ...ten, fifteen or even thirty rounds of pure semi-auto goodness sent down range as fast as you want to pull the trigger. The M-1 if you prefer classic American iron (Mine's a November 1944 IBM) with clean lines, the...

S&W Model 10 Year of manufacture?

Serial for year of manufacture Aha! 5D7357X on the bottom of the butt strap...had to remove the hogue monogrip. The other number is on both the crane and the side of the butt. According to their (S&W'S) website, the 10-8 is still the current model, but this one has to have been in it's...

Which Milsurp rifle to think about?

M44 for me I got a rearsenalled M44 with 1948 receiver date, looks and works like new, and was $89 on sale at Big 5 Sporting goods here. Recoil is "manly" but not painful unless you weigh 110 pounds and bruise easily. I've shot it with bayonet out and bayonet back...no appreciable difference...

    New to me Model 10

Gunshop find...Model 10-8 I picked up an ugly looking M10-8 with 4" heavy barrel...too much time in the leather had worn the bluing off in patches and stripes, but after a re-blue and a Hogue monogrip it looks as good as it shoots. It was carried a lot but not shot much by someone. Single...

    Gun shop find...Revolver timing?

Found a S&W 10-8 with 4" heavy barrel in the back row of a gunshop "used iron" shelf, for $130...it had spent too much time in the original S&W leather holster and the bluing was badly worn...white stripes everywhere, even on the matte finished top of the frame. Bore was clean and sharp, and...
