Hey Guys,
I need a little help with my Inland Carbine. For some reason, when firing the little darling, the Foreguard pops up and off. I have tightened the screw but it still comes lose. Do i need a new stock set or it there a trick to ensuring the foreguard is properly installed?
thanks

I have exactly the same problem with my Rock-Ola. I have tried several methods to secure it, without long-term success. I have asked multiple people about it as well.

The general concensus appears to be that the hand guards shrink over time, leading to this. The best cure, I've been told, is to buy a newer one that has not shrunk.

I'd like to find a better solution.

Carbine pop-off

I've seen similar problems...first check and make sure the spring that holds the barrel band on is still square at the contact point, and set at the right height to engage the band, ...that the point on the band it engages is square, ...and tighten the barrel band screw down tight. Make sure the metal tabs on the handguard are firmly attached to the guard and parallel to the barrel not bent or flexible. If it's still popping off the wooden handguard may either been compressed and oil-soaked enough that the wood has collapsed under the band, or it may be an aftermarket handguard and not the right length for your carbine.

The cheapest parts to replace in sequence would be the retainer spring first, handguard second, barrel band third.

Hope that works...the M-1 is great fun with either 15 or 30 round mag...possibly the most fun small rifle you can buy. Only the SKS in my collection comes close, and it's heavier to carry and holds fewer rounds.

I have an Inland, and I haven't had THAT problem yet, but what I did have was the front sight sliding off the end of the muzzle as I shot it. You want to know what embarrassing is? When you have to wait until cease-fire to retrieve your front sight from the range. I was missing the horizontal retaining-pin. (It was my grandfather's, and who knows how long it was missing.) I got one at a gun show for about a buck, and loc-tited the assembly back together. No problems.

BUT, I do understand that I have a rifle at least 50 years old, and that I would probably be smart to send it to Fulton Armory, and spend a couple hundred bucks to have them overhaul it. I know that if I shoot it enough, it's just a matter of time before something else breaks.

Thanks for the ideas. The gun is currently in storage at my parents house.
I will check over the barrel band and retainer spring when I go get it.
