Throw out some 9mm suggestions for my wife.

Of course that is an option. But some folks enjoy being able to learn a good DA trigger pull, just as a matter of general gun skills, as they would with any shooting technique. Up to her I guess, but I will be suggesting that she look first at guns that fit her hand.

I already own one. She has shot it a bunch and while finding it fun, wants a 9mm. Same as most of us, she likes the bigger boom.

Thanks for the suggestions thus far everyone. Some were already on our list to look at, some I never would have thought to consider. Now to get them in her hands and see what they feel like to her.

I'm going to agree that any ultra-compact suggestions probably aren't going to be the ticket. Too much recoil as some have noted.

Range gun. Good point on the slide etc. But as she can operate everything I currently own, I'm not too concerned about it. However, it is one of those "checklist" type things to make sure of before purchasing.

Throw out some 9mm suggestions for my wife.

Happily, my wife has found that she enjoys shooting with me. Really enjoys it. And I'm stoked about that fact. So just to make her feel more involved with it, we're going to head out and find a 9mm that is just "hers". She shoots my DA/SA Sig 2022 quite well. She is not a huge fan of her...

Plated bullets for light 44 magnum loads? Crimp?

What I have read on Berry's website is this: They don't say that you can't load them in magnum guns, just that you shouldn't load them to magnum velocities above the speeds stated. So, for example, I'm talking about making light shooting 44 magnum loads in the 800-900 range with these...

Plated bullets for light 44 magnum loads? Crimp?

Good to know. I've been happy with Rainier and Berrys but never tried xtreme. Good to get experienced feedback. THAT is a very clever idea. I think I will copy you. My thanks to you, sir.

Plated bullets for light 44 magnum loads? Crimp?

Walkalong, If I use that taper crimp die, I would need to either switch to a powder through expander or get rid of the powder-check lockout die. Got any suggestions as to which is the better path? I guess I really don't HAVE to use the powder-check die. But I do like having it there for double...

Plated bullets for light 44 magnum loads? Crimp?

As a follow up to my previous 44 mag/spl post, I've got another related question. If I'm loading up light 44 magnum loads, can I use plated bullets? In 9/38/45, I use a lot of Rainier plated bullets. Partially because I like the fact that they are manufactured in my home state, also because...

Best way to get into long(er) distance shooting?

Some of the "1000 yard" comparison is pointless anyway (at least for me) as I have no place to shoot at 1000yds and don't expect to find such a place any time soon. Though it would be neat to do so.

Best way to get into long(er) distance shooting?

For all the people who have mentioned iron sights and peep sights and whatnot, one thing worth mentioning is that I am right handed and left eyed. While it doesn't make a lot of difference in my handgun shooting, it makes iron sights somewhat unfun for anything but plinking since I either have...

Best way to get into long(er) distance shooting?

A Savage MkII of some sort with some sort of Boyds stock (either factory or a replacement) is highly likely to be the way that I go if I decide on .22. I like the look/feel of those savages and most everything I've ever read about them is pretty positive.

Best way to get into long(er) distance shooting?

Thank you to everyone. Great info so far. The specifics of wind drift and whatnot aside, I kind of had a feeling that starting with a 22 might be a good move for learning. And while I had thought about the cost of ammo, the cost of barrels hadn't really crossed my mind. So that's was something...

Best way to get into long(er) distance shooting?

So, say a guy wanted to get started learning some longer range shooting, where to begin? Here's the situation: My local range has up to 300yd targets and I've been thinking that it might be fun to learn to "reach out and touch" those far targets. However, I don't have a ton of rifle...
