anybody have more details on this incident?

Perhaps the police didn't want to disturb any possible evidence by moving clothing for a bullet count.

police don't know how many times they were shot

The Medical Examiner would have that information after the autopsies, but the cops aren't going to know much more than "multiple gunshot wounds".

As long as the clerks fired within the store and they're not charged we'll all be grateful that the only people shot were the robbers.

45_auto What kind of "meat market" is open at 11:00 PM?
WalMart
Kroger
HEB
Tom Thumb
Safeway
and many many more.

I worked at Safeway while in high school and college ('73- '77)..........our hours were M-F 830am-9pm, Sat 830-10pm, Sunday 9-6pm.

Try to run those hours now and you won't stay in business.

The dirt bags are dead. Why should the cops care how many bullets are in each. The stiffs will be examined and a bullet count will be reported.

I'd like to be able to get up every morning and read 3-4 news reports like this across the country. The unfortunate reality we have to live with is, our liberal press focuses on the unfortunate victims of firearms violence and rarely takes the time to give balanced reporting to situations where firearms are justifiably used to defend an individuals life and property.

Well, there is this:

https://www.nraila.org/gun-laws/armed-citizen/

Also, "The armed citizen" section of the American Rifleman is a monthly gathering of self-defensive uses of firearms. Some are without a shot being fired. I suppose you could "budget" your reading of them to only one every three days if that might satisfy your stated "3 or 4 a day" desire. :D

They used to say in their side blurb in that section that "the mere presence" of a firearm without a shot being fired has prevented crimes from occurring. This sort of counters the dogma about "if you draw it, you have to shoot." :scrutiny:

That and the "I have this old gun" section are the two parts of the magazine I read first. :)

It certainly does. As old dogma tends to do, it's not quite right. It should be "Don't draw unless you would be justified shooting.".

Even then, if drawing resolves the issue you certainly shouldn't feel obligated to shoot just because you drew.

Sort of reminds me of an old inscription I saw on a Mexican Bowie knife that loosely translated said: "Do not draw me without reason, do not sheath me without honor."

Yeah, I hate that kind of bad advice which sounds good when you say it fast, but doesn't make sense in the real world.
