Been carrying my S&W 586 L Comp for awhile now in an Uncle Mike's holster, AIWB. Worked just fine.

So not content to leave well enough a lone, I bought a Remora holster, and pressed it into duty. I understand that it is new and stiff and whatnot, but this is an uncomfortable arrangement to be sure. I'm seriously considering returning to the Uncle Mike's.

FWIW

While I think Remora is a good company with good customer service, I've found that holsters without a clip or loop are just unreliable. I've had Remoras for a LCP, LCR and CZ75B. I have tried just about every configuration under the sun to keep these holster/gun combinations secure and nothing works. I constantly get movement and slippage.

Comfort aside, I would never use these holsters for any degree of serious concealed carry. For some, Remora and sticky holsters seem to work. For me, give me a clip or loop.

YMMV.

You don't specify what Uncle Mike's holster you use, and what Remora holster you bought. Appendix carry has a special set of requirements and typically a holster designed specifically for AIWB is your best bet.

I carry a Kahr .45 in a Remora in the appendix position. I started out carryin' it messican style, but holsters is better. The Remora IWB works great for me, but then I got the belly to keep it there.

I use a sticky holster for my sr9c and it has always been extremely comfortable and secure. What about the holster makes it uncomfortable? Is it the stiffness or the material? Have you tried different positions?

I think it is the stiffness perhaps. The Uncle Mikes is just a soft fabric sleeve of sorts that clips over my trousers and is held in place with a plastic clip, which in turn rides under my belt. It is really quite comfortable in use, but of course there is no chance one can reholster his sidearm after deployment without first removing the holster and all that rigamarole.

The Remora has a clip and the "tuck" option, but the clip is located in such a place that it just doesn't work so well for me, that and the snap that holds the clip comes unsnapped sometimes.

I just now recognized that the discomfort with the Remora has found me not carrying for the last few days. I'll go get Uncle Mike out and start using him again. In order for a revolver to be useful, you have to have it with you! :)

I bought a Remora once, used it once and it's been sitting in a drawer where it belongs ever since and that's been several years.

I like mine for what they are, but I wouldn't carry a service pistol or a microgun in one. They are a little bulky for pocket carry. Works fine for me for a Sccy, Charter...so stuff in the G26, Jframe class as a quick stuff in the waistband.

I carried for the last couple days. I think it is softening up a little bit. Didn't seem as uncomfortable. Just gotta jockey it around to get it in there "just right."

Works great with my J frame. I think I might try my N frame to see if it fits. If it does, and it works, that would be swell.
