I know this is a New thread when there has been other threads but they have not been used for some time. I am in need of a manual or schematic of this revolver for needed repairs and I am stumped. Anyone have a gunsmith schematic for repairing the Defender 38ctge? I am trying to put one back together and I believe I am missing something. What does ctge stand for?
thanks Phil

Thanks so much. I'm hopeful I can figure this out now. I'm pretty sure the model I have is just the Defender 38, as there are no other model number or name markings on it.

Reading Mr. Huff's post even some other things are a little different like my front sight which is similar to the gold bead insert height adjustable style without the bead insert.
My serial number is only 5 numbers no letters.

Thanks again.
Phil

Which Defender exactly do I have

So I have been reading on these trying to figure out which model I have. Pretty sure a variant of the 925. But there are differences with mine to what I have seen.
No letters in the serial number
No other markings except Defender 38 S&W CTGE.
Front sight very similar to pics of one with the gold bead insert, but mine does not
Rear sight "tabs" used" to raise the latch to break open on mine are square, not round.

If anyone can help me with tips on getting the sear put back in, (must be a trick I haven't figured out) that would be great.
A video of breaking down the 925 would be great.

I was given this gun so trying to gather parts and put it together.
Thanks

You'll need a small pin, exactly the length that the trigger guard is thick. I make 'em out of the shaft of a pop rivet. Put the sear spring in place, with the sear over it, using the pin to hold it in place. Then you can assemble the trigger guard into the frame, and drive in the full length pin that holds the trigger guard in place. Yup, these can be fiddly to get back together.

If the barrel is stamped 38 S&W Ctg and not 38 S&W Spl Ctg or 38 S&W Special Ctg it is not chambered in .38 Special, it's chambered in 38 S&W. You can not fire .38 Special ammo in that revolver.
