I have a S&W M10 that I am having problems getting back together. I took the side plate off to give it a deep cleaning. In the process I removed the hand that actuates the cylinder. After reassembling the revolver the cylinder only advances part of the time. Looking at the schematics that are available on brownells website I figured out there is a spring that holds pressure on the hand and it appears to me that this spring is inside the trigger. I would appreciate any help on how to get the spring reattached to the hand. It appears I may need to remove the trigger, if so I am unclear on how to go about this. Thanks for the help.

This is why I don't disassemble that part, because it sucks putting it back together.

You need a thin probe to reach in there and pull the spring back and then insert the cylinder hand. You'll know when it's in right because the spring will hold the hand tightly and it snap back when you move it forward. Take a good, close look at it and you can see how it needs to go and what you need to do.

Actually the upper end of the mainspring (with the two little hammer strut hooks) works just fine for that job...

BTW there isn't much reason to pull the sideplate on a S&W more than once every 25 years or so, if properly cared for.

First thing I look for on a S&W it so see if the screw heads are buggered. NOT a good sign.
