I stopped at my local (Minnesota) Buffalo Wild Wings, and they had the "...bans guns in these premises" sign.

They are in the following states:

Alabama
Arizona
Colorado
Florida
Georgia
Illinois
Indiana
Iowa
Kansas
Kentucky
Louisiana
Michigan
Minnesota
Mississippi
Missouri
Nebraska
Nevada
New York
North Carolina
North Dakota
Ohio
Oklahoma
Pennsylvania
South Carolina
South Dakota
Tennessee
Texas
Virginia
West Virginia
Wisconsin

Before I kick off the official protest campaign, could you tell me if they ban guns in your state? If not, we have an even stronger argument, and the protesting can begin.

Thanks in advance for the help!

(P.S. Between Hooters, Applebees and now BW3, I am beginning to suspect a conspiracy to deprive gunnies of hot wings. Hmmm :uhoh: :scrutiny: )

In Georgia, one can not carry in any establishment which serves alchohol. So It really doesn't matter. I'm assuming BWW is a sports bar.

Such signs (at least in PA) have no legal standing, so:

"Concealed means concealed." - Some very wise people on this board

BTW, I've never seen/heard of Buffalo Wild Wings, so meh.

Guns and alcohol for consumption on premises

No can do as a state law regardless of sign. HOWEVER, state constables (volunteer appointee's) and LEO can off duty. The sign may affect them. I will have to check.

The fact that they show their anti gun colors (no matter what the law is) will keep me from stopping at either location in Charleston.

I was just at BWW last thursday night but i didn't notice any "no gun" signs. Of course I wasn't carrying either b/c I was drinking some rolling rock with my wings. If I'm not mistaken in MS you can carry in a restaurant that serves alcohol as long as you don't sit in the bar area.

Here in NV there are no restrictions on carrying where alcohol is served. I've seen only a couple of places posted, and no food places including Hooters. Everyone tells me BWW has the best wings around, so now I guess I'll have to go see - and see if it's posted! :)

Texas has a 51% law - if the establishment derives 51% or more of it's revenue from by-the-drink alcohol sales then licensed concealed carry is not allowed. The business is also required to notify customers as such with appropriate signage. Unfortunately, many restaurant owners are unaware of the distinction. They often post the 51% signs in error simply because they serve alcohol, even though their sales don't meet the 51% criteria.

I still like going to signed places and saying along the lines of " so you dont allow guns here?." and I normally get a response of " yep we dont need that type of people here. " and I say " I can see where you are comming from. " and go on the entire time packing concealed. :neener:

I do remember a bar that had signs up in the cities and they came down after an armed robbery, that was a few months ago. With a limit of .04 in mn with a carry permit it isnt worth having a drink, since that is low enough you would never feel impaired but still be in deep do do.

Same with Famous Dave's Here is the reply
" We welcome you to leave your individual weapon in your vehicle while dining at our establishments and hope to see you again real soon!!"

I've seen a bunch of BWW joints sprouting up all over.

Now, I love beer and I love spicy stuff (including wings), so I was thinking of seeing what they were like, even though I'm none too crazy about sports.

Guess what, BWW? You just lost a customer who drinks LOTS of beer and eats LOTS of wings. Hope it's worth it.

I've never seen a BWW, but here in VA you can't carry concealed in an establishment that serves alcohol. You can carry openly though. Go figure!

Bummer...

I love beer and wings, but I won't go there until this rule is lifted.

I have some business-type cards that I got at a gun show a few years ago. It has a gun symbol in a red circle with a slash through it. Then an "equal =" sign, followed by a "dollar$" sign with another red slash through it. At the bottom, it says,

"We noticed your sign, and we will respect your wishes by taking our money elsewhere."

I'll have to drop a few of those off to the manager next time I go past BWW.

Before everyone jumps down BWW's throat-

someone ought to check and see if this is a company policy or an attempt to comply with state laws. Plenty of states ban CCW in liquor permit premises, this may be an effort to ensure that customers do not get jammed up or that BWW's permits do not get yanked.

I do not even like BWW, but I think it is important to be sure of the facts before slamming them. If this was an arbitrary decision to not allow CCW then they deserve what they get, but if they are just complying with a bad law the problem lies elsewhere.

good point sendec.

I also don't care for BWW (I live near BUFFALO, NY. Much better wings from LOCAL establishments like Duff's!) but they may just be posting because MN doesn't allow carry in a bar. Like I said I live in NY so I don't know if that is the case.

p.s And for everyone who wants some REAL wings (they aren't called Buffalo wings) come out to Buffalo, NY and have at it...bring your sweat pants.

For what it's worth, here's my opinion on this whole matter. I have no problem with property owners having a right to ask people with guns to leave them outside, or don't come in. The problem I have is when legislators make it a separate and unique "gun crime" to enter a signed establishment. The law should be strictly enforced as a property right issue only. What I mean is, the worst thing that should be possible if you go into a signed establishment armed is that they can ask you to leave if you are discovered, and if you won't leave, they can call a cop and have you expelled, then prosecute you for trespassing. That's it! The current laws of every state already allow for this, and always have. It requires new laws to make it a separate "gun crime" to violate one of those signs. These new laws are the problem. They do not enforce a property right (which is already enforced by long established law), as some pretend, but rather make the government an ally of the anti-gunners.

Please, people, I was asking for some specific information.

Simply, does the BWW in your state have a gun ban sign? If so, is it required by law or optional?

If they have a nationwide policy, it'll be a standard protest. If they ban only in Minnesota, it will be more effective to ask why they are less trusting of their Minnesota customers.

And by the way, Minnesota does not require bars to ban guns.

I need a little more signal and a little less noise to get the information I need.

I'll start a new thread when it's time to start the email/phone/letter campaign.

Thank you.

Same with Famous Dave's.

Not exactly, they have taken down the signs at both of the locations I've been to in the last month. I suspect they'd like you to leave guns in the car but they've lost too much business to justify the signs (no signeeee, no baneee).

In Ohio, CC is banned in any establishment that serves liquor and/or has a class IV license. This MAY include grocery stores that occassionally host wine tasting. Ironically, a few months ago, some "kids" had a shootout in a BW3 a few miles from my house. I guess they didn't have a sign up then. :uhoh:

i don't eat there anyway considering the charge .50c when you order water with your meal.

MI changed there law so that the busniess must make less than 50% of their income from liquor sales for it to be legal to carry there.

I have only seen one business here so far that had a no weapons sign, it was a local credit union, I went and spoke with the president of the CU and so did a couple of my shooting friends, the sign came down.
