Guns banned at Buffalo Wild Wings

MI changed there law so that the busniess must make less than 50% of their income from liquor sales for it to be legal to carry there.

hopefully ohio will make the same change. i think that is a good idea. i mean there are plenty of resteraunts where poeple don't drink much.

If most states with CCW are like Ohio, then CCW is prohibited in places with Class D liquor licenses(class D is given where alcoholic beverages are served for consumption, not purchase only).

So, in OH it has always been illegal to carry in a BW3 even before the concealed carry law. I'd bet that most other states are the same way.

Sorry for the replication of info. I missed what Atticus posted. Sorry.

In georgia it does not matter if it's buffalo's or Outback Steakhouse or any other establishment that sells alcohol for comsumption on the premises. It is the state law and if you carry at a restaurant that sells beer/liquor for comsumption on the premises and are made, you WILL lose your CCW permit if authoriities are called. Yhe Ga legislature is working on and this and trying to pass legislation to allow for carry into other than Bar restaurants, hopefully we will see his change prevail.

Class IV...er..or..class D.
And as Coronach said, the wings are dried up pieces O'crap anyway. :D

The BWW at I20 and GSW doesn't have any signs prohibiting carry.

Oh, and I had to suffer through 2 Shiners on draft and some "boneless wings" just so I could report back in this thread :D

Matt, It would be better to simply shoot an e-mail off to the PR dept of the comapny and ask them what the policy is.

This will serve two purposes.

1) you will find out straight fromt he horses mouth wht the policy is rather than guess what it is because you have word of mouth that two managers are: a) off the reservation by posting their own signs or...
b) the only two known to be following company policy.

2) You may get your satisfaction quickly is the sign is posted contrary to company policy.

A while back there was some rumors floating about that Wnedy's was anti-gun.

TFL had damn near three pages of rants about the injustice of it all and that we should boycott them.

I, living in Columbus, Ohio (a Suburb of Dublin, Ohio:p ) simply made a phone call and got the information I needed and then asked for a followup through e-mail so I could post a quote from it.

problem solved. Wendy's makes no donations to any political cause and takes absolutely no position on political issues at all.

That reminds me, I'm gonna have a BBC for lunch today to celebrate.

Just part of an effort to make the permit effectively worthless. Oh, wait, I know, criminals will never do anything bad in a Georgia Outback. Guns are prohibited there in Georgia.

Now don't get me wrong -- guns and alcohol don't mix. But nothing's going to stop an irresponsible permit holder from getting tanked anytime he wants and going around strapped. All this sort of legal nonsense does is discourage people from carrying because they have to navigate a legal minefield in going about their daily business and it ends up not being worth the hassle. It's BS.

I'll have to double check but I don't recall seeing any signs at the several BWW I've been to in KS.
But then again we don't have CCW yet :(

Has anyone confirmed this with corporate? Is this a store policy or corporate?
If its corporate I'll be sure to make some noise with my local BWWs
It's too bad, they have some good eats.

However Wingstop has great wings too :)

Matt, I have been to BWW in two other states besides MN. WI and NE. The thing is neither state has any sort of carry permit. They do both allow open carry and by not having signs up it makes me think that BWW allow open carry in NE and WI.

I got made at the local "Wingers". When I sat down the back of the seat pulled my shirt up just enough to peekabo the grip of my Cougar. Waitress noticed it and winked at me. When I got up, the Waitress gave me a hug.

Of course she was a long time friend of the family... but still... :D

I live near BUFFALO, NY. Much better wings from LOCAL establishments like Duff's!)

That is so wrong ... if you live in Buffalo NY, the ONLY place for Buffalo wings is the Anchor Bar - where Buffalo wings were created!

Dang ... now ya got me going ... gonna have to go there tonight (about an hour's drive)!

Anchor Bar is good but I like Duff's a little bit better.

However, in the world of wings that is like comparing a blonde to a redhead or a Lamborghini to a Ferrari..

I spoke to a person at BWW HQ -- no the right person, but a management type who was available to take the call. For this reason, I won't post her name and number.

First off, she was very polite, reasonable and patient.

She said that it is corporate policy to ban legal carry, but that many of their restaurants are franchises and thus not subject to the rule. That explains Texas, where only one restaurant is corporate-owned.

[that's true - http://gamma.franconnect.net/ifa/control/franchisorinformation?section=Franchisor&franchisorID=98 - 140 franchise locations, 80 corporate-owned locations]

She further explained that they felt the need to balance people's right to be armed with other patrons' right to go to a bar where there aren't people with guns.

Sigh.

She said that in her experience, most bar/restaurants in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area ban guns.

I don't know what planet whe is on; overwhelmingly, they do not.

She did promise, if I sent her an email, to forward it to the appropriate people, so I'll be doing that.

If some polite persuasion and logic doesn't help, I will report back and start planning the deluge of phone calls and emails.

Thanks to everyone who responded with useful information and suggestions.

I was wondering if anything ever happened with this. Stopped by a location tonight and saw that sign on the door. Didn't go in. Called to speak with the manager. He said it was corporate policy. I said I hadn't seen the signs at other locations. Said it didn't apply to franchises, and that he didn't agree with it either but couldn't do anything about it. :(

actually in ga you cant carry in an establishment whose alcohol sales make up 51% or more of sales, fwiw,

The BWWs here are full of riff raff I won't go because state law prevents me from packing in a place that attracts a wild crowd. Whoops, just realized this thread is 7 years old!

I talked to one of the managers at our local BWW. They post the sign if the state laws forbid carry due to alcohol sales, i.e. if the state says no CC when 51% of sales are alcohol and that location derives more than that, they post the sign. Ditto if state law says no carry where alcohol is served. Keeps people from wondering, "Can I carry here?" Florida bans carry in bars, but not restaurants that serve, so CC is fine there (in fact she showed me the LCP she carries).
