I'm trying to compare prices for an XD9 Tactical, but there aren't many to be found. Someone told me Springfield discontinued them. Is that true?

Haven't seen or heard anything. Maybe go the direct route and give Springfield Armory a call and see what they can tell you.

With night sights and shows in stock @ Bud's.

From Springfield's website, they have a buy it now button that takes you to gallery of guns. There it shows item number as unavailable.

I'm willing to bet it's been replaced by the mod2.

If you cannot stand the mod2 grip/look you should jump on that Bud's XD.

As someone who has 8,000+ rounds through his XD9 Tactical and a 4" XD40, I would grab the shorter barrel.

The XD mod2 line is replacing the XD series. A friend recently got the XD Mod2 subcompact 45. Its a very nice gun.

The XD line is on their site. You can have an XD Compact in 9mm or .40 S&W. There's the XD Sub-Compact too. Looks the same as the Compact to me.

the original XD line is being phased out, there are currently only a handfull of them still listed on their sight. the XD mod 2 is the line that is replacing them. there is an XD mod 2 tactical in 9mm listed on their sight, it's kindof like a cross between the xd mod 2 and the xdm 5.25

I would think springfield will bring in batches of xd pistols just for california. Californians buy a lot of guns and the xd mod 2 can't be sold to the public through dealers because of the stupid safe handgun roster. Standard xd pistols are on the roster.

You know the funny thing about the grip zone?
Whatever you are pointing it at, will never see it.
It could be worse, it could be stamped on the side of the slide / barrel

Despite all that, it works for me. My XD mod 2 .45 acp points naturally and stays put in my hand. I was set on buying the XDS, but as soon as I picked up the mod 2, I knew it was the better choice for me.

yep that gripzone graphic marketing nonsense is a deal killer. its so new shooter/backyard special forces angled to the silliest degree. shame too as the whole xd line is good, but im just gonna keep my xd .357sig.
