I love pics, so forgive me if it looks overboard...hopefully they help out someone that may be looking at this series. Figured I'd take a bunch for anyone that hadn't really gotten to look at one up close.

Hopefully (and it should, from the reviews I've read) it fires as well as the gun feels in my hand. I went in for the subcompact XD9 but he sold me on this one instead (I chose the bi-tone). Could have had all black for $429, got this one for $479. Man I'm going to miss Texas (moving to Maryland in 2 months)...walk in, pay the man, fill out 2 minutes worth of papers, walk out with a gun.:)

Couple neat although I'm sure unnecessary "features" of this gun -- pin pops out on the back to let you know whether or not the gun is cocked (good for feeling in night)...if the pin is out, should be ready for business, so long as you have a round chambered, which is indicated by a small little piece up top that pops up when you do, otherwise it's flat. Pardon my lack of technical words.

Sitting in there trying them all, I can see where you guys want to buy so many.:D

Pin is in, gun not cocked.

Pin is out, gun cocked. Can easily feel with thumb. Granted I assume one should always know whether the gun is cocked or not, whether it's dark or not.

No round chambered.

Round chambered, note little triangle pop-up.

Those are very nice looking guns, the more i look at them the more i think so. I like the Dark Earth color myself, but the stainless looks nice to. Congrats on your purchase:)

Very nice. Enjoy it! The XD's are a fine line pistols. I enjoy my XD45 and XD9.

Black Majik That looks like the service model instead of the 5" Tactical model.

Nonetheless, the SS looks great! Congrats!
You are absolutely correct, I had a brain fart when typing the subject, I think I fixed it.:uhoh: Thank you.

Nice pistol. The XD is a great pistol in any caliber. I have a .40 service and also thinking of getting a .45 Tactical.

Oh...the serial...not my real serial. I didn't know if it would be bad to put my real serial up there so I just photoshopped the 1st 2 numbers over and over. :D

I went in for the subcompact XD9 but he sold me on this one instead

How exactly did he sell you on the Service model from the SubCompact? I'll be in the market for a SubCompact soon and I would like to know what I'll be "missing out" on.

Thanks.

To dry-fire an XD, you have to rack the slide each time, right?
YUP.

Dave, welcome to the XD club, and there's nothing wrong with a lot of pics. It's good to document your valuables in such a way. :)

Good luck in MD. Why on earth are you leaving TX for back east?

Edit: Ah, San Angelo. Are you in the Air Force?

The Xd is a great piece. I've got the XD9 service and Xd40 tactical. Both are great. The only fault I can think of with the Xd is that being a 1911 shooter, is the placement of the slide release. I'm used to resting my thumb on the safety of 1911 and the slide release on the Xd is close enough that many times it will fail to go to slide lock because of the pressure of my thumb. Not a real big deal but it did cost me a little time at a Steel Challenge match I shot with my Xd40.

great looking pistol there!!....I think I'm pretty much down to either the bi-tone xd9 service or a p99AS....just can't make up my mind:(

XD

Great pistol, I love my XD-9 I reccommend the Xml tactical light I bought mine when I bought the pistol for $89 or so. Not my first choice of tactical lights but turned out to be pretty impressive.

Mainly he said that the easy part to conceal is the barrel, since it's going down your pants anyways, and that it's the handle that's the difficult part to conceal. Said that at the range I would enjoy shooting the 4" model more over the 3" model because of the distance between sights, it will be more accurate. That, and the handle isn't a whole lot longer (maybe 3/4" to conceal), and I would enjoy the 4" all-around over the 3". We'll see soon I hope.

I guess if you have to settle for a Millenium Pro copy you might as well go with a XD:evil: :)
JUST KIDDING!!! Very nice gun Dave. I got my eye on the .45.

Great pics. Thanks for posting.

I have the 9mm sub-compact version. I like it. About 500 rounds so far and not any problems. Accuracy and trigger are getting better . . . don't know if it is me or the gun.
