Before we get too giddy...

don't take me so seriously. I can be sardonic and satiric and many times that does not register in plain text as a normal FTF conversation would. The emoticons can only help so much.

Perhaps it is you who should bear that in mind, rather than expecting all of us to, and then slinging insults at other members who take your statements at face value.

I don't know how President Trump will turn out, or how he will impact us.

But I do know that we live to fight another day, which is more than we would be able to say if HRC had been crowned.

(All of that said, have any of you read his position paper on the Second Amendment? Looks like it could have been written by NRA or GOA.)

I cannot find it in me to celebrate just yet. I feel as though I find myself once again behind enemy lines. I selected Washington as my retirement residence with a major factor being (1) state preemption of all firearms laws, (2) long and storied history of being the first "shall issue" state with truly reasonable gun laws, and (3) splendid outdoor recreation options from fishing, hunting, hiking to skiing ... well, also, the incredible natural beauty of this state.

Yet with the takeover here by loonie liberals on all levels (we lost a superb state attorney general to be replaced by a guy who can't see the big picture), missed opportunities to elect a good guys to the governorship the past four general elections, and keep reelecting extremely liberal, wealthy Microsoft executives and "moms in tennis shoes" and other low-functioning career politicians to Congress. The mayor of Seattle has declared his city as a "sanctuary city" to welcome all the illegals and other misunderstood minorities.

I-594 brought us egregiously written universal background checks, mostly unenforceable that haven't prevented our criminals from getting guns, only provided law-abiding gun-owners further administrative hassles.

Now comes I-1491, representing the death of due process for all residents of our state. Stand by on this one.

There's so much I love about my adopted state, but my heart gets broken too often, too reminiscent of my years in California. Come retirement from my second career, I shall with great regret be looking to move eastward and southerly ...

It's sad Phil. I was going to rest for a week and you took it all personally because you are trapped in a sea of blue and can never relax and breathe normally. I am so sorry my moments of joy have bothered you so much. If HRC had won, you would not even be posting at all. You'd be crying and so would I.

Try for some more perspective. Perhaps it will make you feel better. And don't take me so seriously. That was for DJT's win!

I feel for your plight in Washington. All my relatives are in New Jersey, almost all are Conservatives and are miserable. However, for so many reasons besides guns, they cannot simply pick up and move. You are probably in the same boat.

Whatever, your life will be better now that WJC & HRC have been permanently disposed of. Stay positive and stay safe.

It's OK Red Wind, I'm not mad at you and I don't take it personally. The idea I was trying to convey was that we now have a President who is not against the Second Amendment, and so the time is right for all of us to stay focused and to take advantage of it while we can. We may never get another opportunity like we will have in the next few years.

Thank you very much, Phil. And you are right. We must take advantage of this rare opportunity of controlling both Houses and the POTUS.

It does not come around very often for the GOP. Democrats controlled the House for 40 years, 1954 to 1994. Look at all the damage done to gun rights during that long trek in the wilderness.

It is very sorrowful to read of all those dashed hopes, Will. Living in Seattle, way back in the days of the early 1960's, I realize how beautiful Washington is and all the outdoor activities that it offers.

I can only hope that a southeasterly move will bring you some consolation and peace.
It's obvious that gunwise, changing the culture in your state will be a most difficult task in the foreseeable future.

bankruptcy?

Whenever I read a media pundit bring up Trump's bankruptcies, I think; there's someone who's never done something difficult.

Building a business is harder than shooting guns, playing golf or bowling. The commitment, stubbornness, cleverness and chutzpa needed to survive changes in customer behavior from revolutionary technological advances, mergers, economic slumps, ever growing government regulations is huge. If it weren't difficult, everyone would have a billion dollar business.

When I interview a successor to my business I've had for twenty years, early in that interview will be the question "Have you ever been knocked down?".

If they answer "No", I'll ask "How do I know you'll get back up?".

No state will secede from the Republic, it takes two thirds votes from both houses and ratification from 38 of the 50 states. Not ever happening. Personally, I am finding all of the hair pulling, screaming tantrums by my fellow Californians to be immensely entertaining, they are all hypocritical babies who need their participation trophies so they can come out from their safe places where they have been crying because the Orange One won. That thin veneer of civilization is being pulled back for the first time for many of them and they are freaking the hell out, it's hilarious but at the same time, pathetic. After going through two Obama elections, I have to say, turnabout is fair play and I am enjoying it. I work in the entertainment business and it's even worse. I am getting daily emails from my union (for the record, I HATE unions, but a client offered me a lot of work if I got a union card so I had to do it) are cracking me up, they just assume because you are a union member, you have no brain and automatically voted for Hillary.

Signing off from the land of entitled, special snowflakes.

Just an FYI, those "sissy academics" are precisely the first ones to start making & planting bombs, historically (to include not fifty years ago in this very country). It's unwise to disregard sustained derangement in your fellow citizens just because they aren't currently assaulting you (kind of like the drunk crazy guy on the other side of the street; dumb idea to point & laugh at him unless you want to risk an altercation). "Sustained" is the important word, though; we'll see if they cool off in the next week or so. If they're still rioting in winter, I'll be quite worried about the arrival of warm temperatures.
