for those who watch things closely, do you think the lautenberg ammendment has a chance of being repealed or modified in 2017.

No!!!

No meaning you don't think it will be repealed, or no meaning you don't think it should?
I have heard that there was discussion on it and hopefully with a right swing of the SCOTUS it may have a chance of being modified.

I don't think any constitutional right should be revoked because of a misdemeanor. That's why there is a difference between a misdemeanor and a felony. I especially don't think applying any law retroactively is constitutional.

Like all gun laws, I'd like to see evidence where the law prevented a criminal from obtaining a gun if they wanted one.
That and the misdemeanor and inflated felony charges of today I think the law was a feel good chip at the 2a.

I agree with you 2 guys completely. Just wondering, and hoping, that with the change of the SCOTUS, this ridiculous law has a chance of becoming reasonable.
I think the majority of people who support the amendment are mostly ignorant of the amendment itself.
Just wondering if it actually has a chance.

Once a law is on the books it's there forever unless demeed unconstitutional by the SCOTUS I believe there have been challenges to Lautenburg that made it to SCOTUS but the law remains unchanged.

That's probably true, says something about gridlock.

The public wont stand up to the idea of giving wife beaters guns. People cant seem to realize the add on prevents the victims from being armed too. People at this point think loosing a right over a misdemeanor is not a problem. Now you can loose a right over a traffic violation.
