Got an invite Friday in the mail to an after hours sale at my LGS that night only, went up and looked at all the awesome deals they had going and walked out with this SIG P6, marked at $499.99 I walked it out the door for a grand Total of $310 !!!

Congrats. That's a heck of a price. I got mine a number of years ago when they were bringing in large batches of them and it's always been a good reliable shooter. Back before the polymer framed models came out I figured it'd be the only way I'd ever get to own an actual SIG :).

I took my CWP live fire test with mine.

What is 37 years old? This gun seems to be dated February 1984. What have I missed, some sort of secret date coding?

PS - Excellent gun. It would be just the thing for a beginning centerfire shooter.

Bad math on my part?....

I apologize for being "that guy", mongoslow. I used to be an accountant, and do math in my head automatically.

BTW, I like the checkered grips on your gun better than the stippled grips on the more recent one.

I had a very good friend who owned the Browning BDA, sorta the import-marked version of the P6, I guess. Excellent gun regrettably overshadowed by later SIGs. Regrettably, I didn't get one of these when they were all over the place. The cost of spare magazines gave me pause and then the chance was gone. The same thing happened with those darned cute Beretta 71s with the fake silencer. (Yes, I know we're supposed to call them suppressors, but I'm too old school.) I've never regretted buying a particular piece. Selling it, almost always.

P6 is one of my all time favorite Sigs. I was able to get a matching pair from one of the milsurp dealers (Weidners maybe?) a few years ago for around $300. Those were the days! You got a sweet deal.

I have 2 of these from a few years ago. Sent both to Sig for their SSP and that helped DA/SA and nice night sites. It is a good deal, imho. Have one with a Barsto from a group buy. An absolute tack driver, to say the least. You got a great deal on a fantastic gun that has some history attached. Enjoy.

Many moons ago, my LGS had a bunch of those guns for $250 or thereabouts. Like an idiot I didn't grab one or two. Still kickin my butt over that.

Nice pistol.
