Interesting photo. As anyone familiar with them knows, raccoon are very agile and extremely strong. It had to have fallen into this position and broke its neck, they can usually squirm there way out of just about anything.

This one wouldn't have made it if we hadn't found him in time. He had flown into the barbed wire fence and then spun/wrapped around it, digging the barbs into his axillary. We were able to cut the fence and took him to a wild animal rescue. 3 weeks later, he flew away.

Reminds me of family reunion years ago when we had kid go "hunting" in the woods with his BB gun. He came back all excited because he had killed a deer. After much persuasion his dad went into the woods only to find a deer with her back legs hung up in old fence and shot many many times with a BB gun.

I agree with drunkenpoacher, he had to have fell and broken his neck, surely.

Poor little fellars...

Sad for the squirrel....but it provided our company with a little entertainment for several months. We're not sure what exactly happened. But, we're all convinced that we should make everything out of squirrel since that thing lasted so long in some pretty bad weather.
