Dose anyone hunt deer in Maryland?

If so do you hunt on the Western Shore or the Eastern Shore?

Please let me know.

Me. Went out today to Indian Springs WMA (Washington County) and seen no deer. Did see 22 turkeys and about 3 dozen hunters. We had a 2 day rifle season here so that brought out all the last minute hunters.

Why do you ask?

I live on the Eastern Shore in Easton and was wondering how many guys were on this forum from MD.
I was out today also and was scouting for next year and saw 18 deer all together in 1 field and a nice 6 point and a 10 buck and I Red Fox came right up to me about 25 yards away.
Im new to hunting so next year I will be hunting where I saw the 18 deer.

Hey there rickyford2, I used to live in Easton and work at the airport there for several years. There are alot of deer there and some pretty good sized ones too. We'd always see them in the field to the northwest just before Three Bridge Branch Rd. right before getting to Cordova on Rte 309. But finding good hunting spots is like finding gold. My Mom and her husband owned the house with the horse pasture just past that field on the left side if you were heading to Cordova, they always had deer behind their house.

I think the biggest problem with folks actually going out and hunting here is simply finding a place to do it, especially once you get East of say Westminster.

Even the Eastern Shore is getting so built up that good land is getting scarce.

The irony is that they then have to spend tax dollars to go and hire "professional hunters" to cull the herds when they start eating the flowers out of peoples' gardens.

Cool. Good to see another deer hunter coming on board. It's a very fulfilling sport and nothings finer than backstrap on the grill.

Do your homework before you venture out on your own or pair up with a hunting buddy.

If you were in the Western side of Maryland I'd invite you along for a walk thru the woods.

Enjoy!

But finding good hunting spots is like finding gold.

And im not telling you were im going to hunt next year sorry but I will tell you it is state land and bow hunting ONLY.

As I currently reside in Memphis, TN and have since August 2003, I couldn't encroach on your hunting area if I wanted to. I wouldn't do that even if I did live there and you did tell me, just not proper. Sorry you have that impression.

I live in Carroll County and you need to Know someone personally to find a place to hunt. I've hunted deer on the shore from 1980 until 1997 until My parents sold thier home there. Great place to hunt, it was surronded on 3 sides by Fairmount WMA. I have most recently tried to hunt Hanover Watershed CWMA, But when I called 8 days in advance , ALL spots were taken! Maybe next year.

Don't think he was asking for the specific stand, field, or oak grove.

I usually hunt in the Yuchi WMA here in Burke County, Georgia. That's over 8000 acres.

I won't tell you exactly which acreage I hunt there unless we're hunting partners on the same day and I don't want you thinking I'm a deer.

If I ask where you hunt, I'm asking for the general area; and not for directions to your stand.

I hunt just south of Westminster, in Montgomery County, east of Route 27. I can't be more specific as the lefties tend to bollocks any little pocket of "liberty" that they find out this way. I got a four point on opening day with my flintlock! :D
