but that revolver he bought should be fine wouldn't think??
That Lyman Remmie Navy is top quality I am sure, curious to whom made it tho. The same vendor had that .69 Tower flimter which kinda looked cool and is going for cheap. My experience with Japanese made cartridge arms has all been very positive, but I really appreciated the suggestion they were more meant for non firing replica use. I don't want a breech plug for a third eye :)

My steel frame Lyman 1851 with silver plated square back trigger guard has a very faint encircled "DGG" logo under the barrel hidden by the loading lever.

That logo has the initials of the three founders of Armi San Paulo of Italy.

It is dated "AB" for 1976 and has Italian proofs.

It is my understanding that Lyman of Middlefield, Conn. was an importer not a manufacturer of BP firearms.

If I remember correctly, ASP became Euroarms.

I bought one of the Euroarms .36 Remingtons with a conversion cylinder a few years back for a very good price. The revolver is noticeably smaller than a .44 or .36 1858 Remington made either by Uberti or Pietta. It feels in my hand more like a 1851 Colt rather than the larger framed Remington's. The .36 by either Pietta or Uberti is made on the larger .44 frame. One of my never sell guns.

I remember when I was a youngster I sent away for both the CVA and Replica Arms catalogs. I couldn't order any of them (too young), let alone afford one (too expensive), but still it was fun to look at the photos and dream! Thanks for the info!
