i like it but I sucked. Last two years I've shot the classifier I used a Glock 41 so I can classify in three divisions with one classifier and shot Expert. This time I shot my P226 In SSP and shot SS. Raw time was 82 seconds but with points down I was over the SS limit. Don't think I'll ever shoot Master. The super fast guys who always win and are Masters barely squeaked into Master time by half a second. Supposed to be easier but not sure it is. They scored the new head circles though and I read later that they aren't supposed to until 2018. Unless I misunderstood. Fun match though. Rained all day.

My understanding was that the smaller (4") "-0" zone in the head wasn't mandatory until after the Nationals. Until then they were optional at the clubs discretion...because a lot of clubs stocked up on the old targets when the manufacturers put them on sale, My local clubs are using a template to mark the old targets.

A lot of folks, NV & MM, moved up when we held our Classifier Match in January...apparently it is a laeger jump from SS to EX ; but even they were a lot closer to making the move up. (it doesn't hurt when everyone breaks out their .45ACP pistols once a year)

The new Classifier is a lot easier/faster to run. When we were setting the course up, we did some informal testing to gauge time and all the SS were knocking on the EX door. I'm shooting a revolver, so the longer DA shots were really easy

If you shoot two sanctioned matches a year, you never have to shoot the Classifier

The target and the Classifier should have been changed at the same time. Shoot the '17 classifier with the old target and you might come out classed higher than you can repeat on the pinhead target.

They used the template and marked perforated circles in the heads. I realize my chief problem is I never shoot paper generally outside of IDPA matches so I'm not exactly sure where the down zero zones are from muscle memory you know?
