I have come to be in possession of 2 6lb jugs of Mil Surp Unique powder. I have more powder than I can use for several years and was planning on selling this locally. Anyone have any guidance on what this is worth? This is my first time dealing with Mil Surp powder, so I am clueless.

What is it?
Should have a label. Without documentation, it's fertilizer.
There was a powder called Russian "Unique" but I can't remember its actual name.
There are others, but again, without documentation, it's nearly worthless.

Be careful selling it as genuine "Unique". Most military pulldown powders are SIMILAR to our canister powders
and general sold as "similar to... [fill in name here]" powder. But it should be obvious, bulk milspec powders
are not produced nor controlled nor marketed to the same level as our canister powders.
Many of them are very, very similar but must be regarded as 'similar' rather than the real McCoy.

Do what you wish. I'm just sayin' the value of honesty and caution are worth more than the powder is worth.

Guidance on value: Whatever you paid is just about right. To establish a dollar value is risky,
unless you can prove and guarantee its documented origin. With documentation, pulldown
goes for 15 to 20 per pound. Last two batches of pistol pulldown, I paid $8 per pound.
I spent the first two pounds testing (with no risky assumptions!) what the document said.
Once I was satisfied that the docs were accurate, I worked up a soft 9mm Luger load and
burned up the rest conservatively. That is the value of documented pulldown. It may be EXCELLENT
or you may discover otherwise. You decide what your integrity and your powder are worth together.

Bartlett used to sell a Russian "2400"

I just love how all the armchair lawyers come out and lecture the OP without ever answering the question. Gota love the Net!

If the powder is BR-5 which is similar to Unique it is selling online for $100/6 lbs. plus shipping and hazmat. IMO $20 face to face would be a fair price for a pound. Tell the buyer even though its not real Unique that is the data recommended for BR-5.

I would not represent it as something it is not. Besides, it is labeled as surplus "Unique" (picture attached). I have it listed on Armslist at $20/lb, as I thought that was a fair price. I already have some unique, Power Pistol, Blue Dot, and Titegroup, so I really don't need this much extra powder laying around. Thought I would give some local folks on Armslist the chance to get it and use it. I understand surplus powder is not the same as cannister grade powder, but it should be close enough to start at the bottom and ladder up to an acceptable load. If I can't "unload it" I will just hang on to it and use it - eventually...

You can get 1lb for $19.25, 4lbs for $72 and 8 lbs for $132 new in original containers, never messed with.

I would value pull down/surplus powder, with an unknown history, less that factory new.

Thanks for the input. It is labeled as (new) on the containers, but also surplus. I see you can get it cheap at Powder Valley, but by the time you pay shipping and hazmat, that would add to the cost. I think I am going to leave it at 20 a pound with OBO and see what happens. Worst case scenario, I will work up a load and use it....for a few years...
