Hello all

Just picked this gun up from LGS. I know very little about Model 12s, but thought is was a cool gun, and so I did a little research before buying.

This one was a Tacoma, PD gun and dates to 1959. There were two on the rack, but this one was in far better condition. The forend is chipped, but I found one on ebay for 40 bucks, so it is on the way.

I got the gun for $249.99 before tax. Don't know if that was a good price, but I saw that the riot length (20") was a bit more difficult to find, so I grabbed it.

How's I do? Anyone have one of these, or use one in their LEO days?

Looks in great shape! Price was good, not a steal, but a good deal. I've shot many Model 12's from riots to Trap guns, loved 'em all.

That's a really nice piece. Congrats.
A model 12 is at the top of the pump gun food chain. A bit more complicated than an 870, but just as durable. The takedown ability is awesome. That should serve you well for the rest of your days.
One of my mod 12s is a '59 model . 1461xxx iirc.

I am a dyed-in-the-wool 870 guy, only because Model 12's are fairly scarce and cost more. The 870 is heavier than a 12 to carry and swing (in the same gauge), and the 12 points easier than the 870. As a kid I shot a Model 12 16 gauge 28" full choke field grade for pheasants in Nebraska (along with an 870 12 gauge 26" IC choke) in the late 60's and early 70's and made my longest shot ever on a pheasant at 60 paces on a crossing shot. I used to shoot skeet back then and often borrowed a friend's 12 in 20 gauge 20" with a Cutts Comp. Man, that gun was slick and loud! Many memories!

Your pictures made me drool, sir. Very nice gun!

I'm 65 and if you decide you don't want it, I have a home for it here in Pe Ell.

Jim
