Opinions on the Walther PPS M2

Personally, I don't like it. The hump on the back of the grip is far too pronounced for my taste. As a result it pushes my hand out and causes the trigger reach and magazine release to be farther reaches than I want on such a small pistol. I also don't like the button magazine release, I prefer the paddles. As such, the PPS M2 is the only Walther I don't like to date, and have no desire to own one. Fortunately, I did find a good deal on a PPS M1 just a few weeks ago that I sprung on.

That being said, there are tons of people who do like the redesign. From what I can tell, I seem to be in the minority of my preference. Try one out. Buy it. If you don't like it, you can sell it after the rebate is over. Likely for more than you spend on it right now.

I have a "first generation" PPS purchased before the introduction of the Shield, the XD-S or the single stack Glock 9mm.

It's a very good gun, very similar to a Glock in operation but with a better trigger. Mine came with one magazine; spares are pushing $50 but then again how many mags do you need for a subcompact carry gun.

The screaming deal right now is the Shield 9mm. There is a $75 rebate but there are some really good price cuts from retailers to boot.

I have one, it's my everyday carry. I love it but it fits my hand which is most important, the hump on the back allows it to point naturally for me, unlike my previous carry weapon s&w shield which was a fine weapon in its own right but didn't fit my hands right to point naturally.

Handguns are so much a function of fit in my opinion.

I can speak to it's function and finish that it's great.

I've been toying with getting the M2 for some time, the next in my list.

I have the 'classic' version with the paddle release. I find the paddle release to be faster but everyone is different.

A friend has a ccp and I prefer the way the CCP fills my hand, or the glock 43 and shield for that matter.

However, the pps is very accurate and feels natural when shooting. All the small quibbles and differences between it and other single stacks disappear when shooting.

It shoots everything I feed it. After 150 rounds or so it likes to be lightly cleaned or it won't lock open on empty, but no malfunctions.

It's a good little gun and fills its intended use nicely for me.

I have never dated a Walther...

though Mrs. Tallball did originally have a German surname.
