I recently purchased a Glock 43 and I'm looking for a new holster. I'm not a fan of all kydex. I'm leaning towards a Crossbreed MiniTuck. If any of you have ever used one, how well did you like it? Is there anything you didn't like about it?

I have a couple of them. On the plus side, the quality is excellent and they are comfortable. What I'd change about them is the leather backing. It's slightly on the slippery side and unless my belt is tighter than I'd like, it tends to slide down my side slightly and tends to sag. I'd take a look at N82tactical. They make the most comfortable holster I own. I would stay away from any of the models that require you to twist the gun to unlock it from the holster, as it tends to be a little difficult to release.

Haven't used a Crossbreed, but have had good luck with Hidden Hybrid Holsters. Check them out if you haven't already.

Regarding Crossbreed products, I have heard zero bad reports of their quality.

I've used a CB Supertuck (not Minituck) for ~3 years with a G19 & it's an awesome holster. I would expect the Minituck to be equally awesome. FWIW, I just ordered a StealthGear Revolution IWB Mini for my Shield. I don't have it yet, but that one might also be worth a look.

The crossbreed IWB's are very good once worn in. It's just that it really takes 3-6 weeks of all day wear to break in the leather backer. Additionally, you can order it with the combat cut or the end user could modify the backer for an individual combat cut fit, which may be useful for drawing a subcompact.

Some comments from Greg Ellifritz on hybrid holsters

Hybrid holsters consist of a leather or nylon piece that is closest to the body and a polymer holster body on the outside. The soft leather makes for comfortable carry, but I haven’t seen my students have any long term success with any model of hybrid holster. What tends to happen over time is that the leather backing loses its stiffness. That makes the holster less rigid and interferes with reholstering. You will see students with floppy-backed hybrid holsters using the gun muzzle to push the leather away from the body of the holster when reholstering. They almost always point the muzzle directly at their side when doing so.. It’s a recipe for disaster.

I use one with my Glock 43 and it has the same advantages as the Supertuck Delux.

I strongly recommend getting the horsehide as it is thinner and generally better quality. Also when you wear it in try to wear it on a long hot day where you will sweat a lot. Breaks it in faster.

Good luck.

I am not a fan of Crossbreed at all. I like and use a hybrid holsters, just not a fan of Crossbreed's business model.

I would recommend the Microtuck or Maxclip holsters from White Hat holsters instead. I have a Maxtuck holster and it carries a double stack very comfortably.

What business model are you not a fan of? The prices do not seem high, they have a two week try it out period, and lifetime warranty. I personally like the quality but I have no idea how their business model is different from other brands.

Their warranty is good. As well as their returns. But I did not like a few things. First the overly Christian symbolism, carry Crosses and whatnot. Especially the ugly crosses on the belt clips. Second, they offer no way to remove the kydex shell from the backing. New firearm? Get a whole new holster. Which is why I like the company I went with instead. White Hat holsters. New firearm? Just get a new kydex shell piece, flat head screwdriver and $3 bottle of Loctite. Their guarantee is also 30 days (compared to 2 weeks) and also carry a Lifetime warranty. I cracked the kydex of one of my EDC firearms and they had it replaced in less than a week with shipping without costing a thing.

Following up on my post from earlier: I've now had my Stealthgear Mini-IWB for my S&W Shield for at least a month now and it rocks! Insanely comfortable.

Thanks for explaining. I will check white hat holsters out, seems nice they are modular like that.

Ah, I forgot Crossbreed has Christian symbolism. I wonder how many people care ... course if you think it's ugly too, might as well go with one you like. Whichever brand you use, it's always fun to have someone ask if you brought your Glock 43 with you, and to tell them nope, I am carrying my Glock 40 today :)

It was a big selling point for me. I lucked out when I went holster shopping for carry. I had tried maybe 3 or 4 cheap nylon holsters. White Hat was my first "investment" holster that I did long research into. At one point I had changed carry guns from a XD45, Ruger SR9c, Ruger P94, and a few other compact guns in about a year. And I didn't really want to dump $100 into a new holster for each. $20 at the time was a much better alternative for me.

I have a CB Supertuck and don't like it. The leather requires a very tight belt or it will slide down with your pants. Also the kydex on the first one cracked so they replaced it. The replacement also cracked. Now the third one is cracked. They replace them but what a PITA! Kydex from TRex Arms looks and feels different so not sure if they are actually using kydex or some cheap imitation. At any rate, it's crap.

Let me just add that as much as I've liked my Crossbreed Supertuck, I put it up for sale in the classifieds today. I'm going to replace it with another Stealthgear Revolution.

A common problem with hybrid holsters, especially when folks try to wear them directly on the point of the hip (3:00 or 9:00). The leather backer is very wide, and is flexible enough to bend around the hip. However, the kydex portion is not flexible and ends up cracking when tried to wrap around the hip. These holsters are typically designed to be worn aft of the point of the hip in the 4:00 (or 8:00) range where you'll normally find a flat enough space on your body for the kydex portion to lay flat.
