QUOTE:
Ruger customer service just emailed me the dimensions
BORE .300
GROOVE .311

Which is what I would prefer. Same as the Mini-30. I'll bet Ruger is using the same barrel blanks for them both. Apparently CS personnel don't agree on diameter. LOL

When I get one I would likely apply a little moly paste to smooth the bolt a bit.

101_0110.JPG I bought two of them, seem like nice rifles except for one thing. The barrel threading on the both of them are off, unsuitable for suppressor use. They are both at the smiths now getting the threads fixed.

I always try .308 bullets in .311 guns. Just for simplicity. I’m general it seems AK’s don’t like .308, but mosin nagants shoot em fine. So I’d bet the bolt gun does fine since it’s not going to have lands a mile off the bullet.

Curious, did you happen to call Ruger? How does he plan to fix the threads?

I dunno what the smith plans, but I had a Savage with the same problem. I pulled the barrel (easy on a savage) and mounted it between centers and skim cut the shoulder. I didn't have to touch the actual threads.

I didn't call ruger, figured I'd just get them fixed. Disappointed they weren't right though.
I'm hoping truing the shoulder is all it takes.

My thread protector doesn't look like that. It's just a sleeve covering the threads. The one pictured looks more like a cap.

My PSA will digest and shoot the Wolf WPA all day long with good groups

Huh. Neither the 7.62x39 Rossi or PSA I have will reliably ignite rounds. (Though the PSA has fewer FTFs than the Rossi, which is probably under 50%, even with US ammo.)

That is the silencer screwed onto the end of the barrel, with an appropriate sized drill rod extending out of the bore through the silencer, to show just how far the threading is off. The drill rod should be centered within the end off the silencer.
That is why it does not look like your thread protector- the suppressor is 1.5" diameter.
