I decieded to go on the cheap with a new rifle and got a Savage package gun Model 10GXP3 in 308. The rifle has a 22" barrel with a 1in10 twist

Been havin a few problems and not sure if it's me or the ammo.
The ammo I was using was Remington core lokt 180gr. It went fine till I tried out past 50 yrds then it was all over the place.

So my question is do you think 180gr's is to much bullet for the 1in10 twist in a 22 inch barrel? Should I try the 150gr? Or is it ME?

It oughtta stibilize. Try another bullet or three, as a test.

50 yards is nothing to a good rifle. At that distace you should barely be able to discern multiple hits.

Thanks Steve
I took your advice bought some 150gr Rem CoreLok and some Federal 165gr.

What a diffrence. The rifle now shoots better then I do. Thats not saying a whole lot though :D

my 12 twist 700 vls will stabilize 180's, so your 10 twist should too.

i'd switch to a different brand of ammo and see if that helps...

It very well could be the bullet. But it seems to like the same basic bullet that is 30gr's less in wieght. Maybe I just have a picky rifle. I plan on some more expierimenting.

Sure does a rolling POS Simmons 3x9. It truly is horible. It came with the rifle. It will be upgraded soon. However I don't think the scope is the problem, Seeing that it shoots the 150gr Remingtons just fine.
