icon1.gif Weaver Scope V7-A. 2.5X7. All Steel.

I have the scope.

Really nice. Cap ring cracked and broke
at the driving slot. Seems to hold nitrogen
and would probably be OK but I don't like to take chances.

Not really expensive but a vintage Weaver.

Called Weaver. They have been sold a few times since this model. (not much help)

They gave me a number for Iron Sight.
Company has rights and parts for "old"
Weaver scopes.

Guy said a "rebuild" with a 1 year warranty
would be $95.00.

I looked for a pic of the reticle, could not find the exact one.

Best described this way:
Frog hair cross with a micro-dot in the center.
The dot would not cover an eyeball @ 100 yards.

Trying to decide which way to go on the rebuild.

Anyone know of a "newer" model with said reticle?

I'm a Leupold guy but would like to have a "name brand"
with this reticle or pay for the rebuild.

Any suggestions??

Thanks!

I have a Weaver K10 or two with the crosshair you describe. I also have a V7 like yours. I don't recall the crosshair, though.

I wouldn't hesitate to pay 95 bucks to get a steel Weaver rebuilt provided it were in near mint cosmetic condition.

Prolly will. Just wanted to see if any "newer" scopes were available?
The one I have does not even have a scratch. The failure was in the plastic.
Old age..

Thanks for the reply!

Leupold has a similar reticle called a "Leupold" dot. They claim a 2moa dot, but it's likely smaller. I have two Leupolds with the reticle. One had the reticle in it when I aquired it, second which I sent back and paid to have installed. About $35 in 1986.

It's my favorite hunting reticle.
BTW, they're both VariX II 2-7x.

I believe thqt type of reticle is called a target dot ive seen them on a number of target specific scopes. If leupold offers it as an option im sure they will install one for you if you ask.
