Strikers on the Nightstand

For a while, my EDC G19 was taken from my belt, magazine taken out and unloaded. I would then take the previously chambered round and put it back in the mag, lock the slide and reinsert the mag. My thinking was that in an emergency all I had to do was reach in and release the slide. I have large hands, reloads and slide release are now second nature. I could have a round chambered while bringing the gun on target.
Reading, training, listening and further education taught me that although quick, not as fast as might be necessary in an all out crisis. Also the sound if the slide releasing if I had to get out of bed to investigate is too loud for a quiet house in the middle of the night.
I now have a holster/trigger guard attached to the bed rail between the bed and nightstand that holds that same G19 but it is now loaded with 15+1. Not on the nightstand but right next to it.

My G-19 is loaded - mag and chambered. Sometimes, I 'll leave it in a soft Uncle Mike's, sometimes not. No kids here to worry about and I am a light sleeper.
