Seems like they did a better job than Remington and thought this out better. I'm still sticking with my tube-fed pump shotguns however.

I agree. I like this set up a lot better than the 870 magazine. I still don't see a reason for me personally to buy one, but I can see some advantages if you want/need to store your ammo separately from the gun but keep it rapidly ready.

I like that quite a bit more than the Remington, I have to admit...

It seems better thought out than Remington's, and 20 round factory mags are wild. Kind of surprised they didn't show a Shockwave version.

I don't really see the point of box-mag pump shotguns, though. Maybe baby steps towards a box-mag 930? Now that would be a hot seller.

Perfect for home defense gun or a truck gun

I think I’ll pick up either this or the Remington version after I get some hands on time at a lgs

Can i get a two round magazine for Illinois hunting? I guess it would be nice, as others have observed, to have a shotgun ready but with ammo separate. Why have the long mag tube?

Makes you wonder how tough it is for them to sell pump shotguns these days.

I can see this for patrol cars so one doesn't have to keep rounds in the tube, but since I'm retired, I don't know how many still carry shotguns, as I see a lot of AR's now. Would have been nice for me back in the '80's when I was involved in a shotgun vs. shotgun incident. And extra mag or two would have been great. However, my old riot gun is good for home defense if I need it.

Most shotgun barrel rings are much closer to the front of the forend. Mossberg did move them out for extended mags but this feeds from the detachable mag. Not trying to start anything, just curious. Shave a few ounces off what is already probably fairly heavy.

Ah. Hmmm. Okay. I assumed since the video demonstrate it going from left to right that it would only work from left to right.

This may not appeal to average shooters, or even someone who wants a shotgun in his bedroom closet. I doubt most will want one for duck hunting either. The guys who will want one are the competition crowd and, the "tactical crowd". The biggest advantage to this, beyond faster reloads and increased capacity, is compactness. With a tube fed gun, the higher the capacity, the longer the tube. In 3-gun, a lot of shooters have tubes that project way past the end of the barrel, making them unwieldy and, prone to damage. I do think detachable box mags for semi autos will be coming shortly. I am a 3-gun shooter and a 590M may be on my short list for heavy metal division.

Mossberg seems to have stopped selling 590 models with the standard length mag tube. All of the 590s on their website have the extended mag tube. I guess they could make the short 590 mag tube just for this model but then they would also have to make barrels with the ring in the shorter position. One barrel and mag tube for all 590s probably reduces manufacturing costs.

I will reiterate my opinion of box mag pump shotguns- good sales gimmick, great range toy, impractical for field use; from a hunting standpoint, you'd better have 2 round mags with only if you're waterfowl hunting. and from a tactical/survival/SD standpoint, rounds left in a box magazine will deform elliptically and not chamber much faster than rounds left in a tube mag will deform on top.

The double stacked magazines are a YOOGE deal.

With a 20 round magazine, red dot, breacher choke, pistol grip, tac light, tac laser, heat shield, vertical forend, and bayonet lug this could be an effective HD tool.
