Webley MARK VI 455

I was off today and went by the bank. As I was leaving I noticed a few vehicles parked out side the local Pawn & Gun shop that was just down the street. The shop had taken on a few feet of water back in August when it flooded here. It appeared that they were open so, I went on over. It was nice to see that they were open and had the place pretty much back together. In the gun shop they had new glass counters and had a pretty good stock of guns. I was shooting the bull with a few friends that were in the shop when I spotted a large revolver in one of the cases. I asked to look at it. It was a Webley MARK VI in pretty good shape. The cylinder looked up good and was not shaved for 45 ACP. The sweet thing is that it was priced at $349.99. I asked about the price and the guy behind the counter said that if it were military marked it would have been priced higher.
Some one had cleaned up the barrel a little, but I wanted it for my collection so, I asked if they could work on the price. I know that I am evil for asking but it never hurts to try. I was told that I could have it for $300. I said I would take it if that was the price out the door. Would you believe that they said OK. I know, I'm a bad man and a thief.
Well here are the pics and you can see that it does have the broad arrow stamps. All numbers are matching. It also has the broad arrow to broad arrow stamp on the left side of the frame.

I looked through my old ammo and found three cartridges.

Gunny, I'm really disappointed that you could only find three rounds. I thought you had bunches of everything. Are you really a lieutenant pretending to be a Gunny? If you are, I understand. Everybody wants to be a Gunny.

Nope, not a lieutenant, just an old Gunny. Just because I could only find 3 rounds, doesn’t mean that there aren’t more in my shop somewhere.
Would have to dig through these two containers and a few other places.

Fiocchi must have just made a run because i bought 2 boxes from midway the other day. Perfect timing because i just recently got my first Webley, a WG with the church steeple cylinder! I cant wait to get the old beast to the range. Reed's ammo also has 455 available, including a repro ov the mkIII round. I use his 327 loadings and will likely try some ov his 455 once i test some ov the Fiocchi. Dilly Dilly!

Maybe someone has said this, but if so, sorry for the repeat.
You can make cases from .45 Colt or .45 AUTO RIM by using a safeside file or a lathe tool to trim the rim down from the front, then trim the case to the proper length.

Yeah, i may just replace my lcr with the Webley for nightstand duty. Good home defense round IMO as it's low pressure(quieter), not liable to overpenetrate, and big(expandable with soft lead mkIII and possibly apt to tumble with the mkII).

I really want a Mark VI that has not been shaved for 45 ACP. Normally I love moonclip fed revolvers but the Webley is an exception I want one I can shoot 455 Webley in.

Until then I keep shooting my Mark IV, made in 1982. (Matt's bullets sells both bullets for reloading and loaded ammunition for the original Mk1 38/200 ammunition)

I wish I could remember where I saw this- it was a British officer who said, "The .38 is an excellent man-stopper; simply shoot them through the skull and they drop in their tracks!"

Well it may not be a MK VI, but it's my first Webley and I adore it! I guess that makes it adorable, right? Aww, wook at the wittle Webley, is'nt it adorable? Hehe. I do like the looks ov the church steeple cylinder better. It has that 'merry olde English' appearance. Round comparo below is 380acp(90gr xtp), 455webley(262gr lrn), and 327mag(100gr xtp). Which do you prefer, short and skinny, short and fat, or tall and skinny?
