Shooting golf balls & stuff for fun

Excuse my ignorance , I just got into lever actions about 2 years & regret my focus being on AR stuff & semi auto
pistols during that time , but WHAT IS THAT BEAUTIFUL RIFLE ?
I have a low amount of memory left what with all my job required before I retired & funny thing is you can't erase
it & make room for important stuff like lever actions.
Just a guess to show my ignorance but could that be a model 99 ?
I know I could look it up & avoid looking like a rookie but to open my mouth & remove all doubt of
my intelligence is my usual 1'st impression.

Thanks for the complement on the rifle, no worries, with all the photos of beautiful firearms posted on the forum I know scant few. This one is a Browning BLR81 chambered in Winchester .358. Sadly I had to top this elegant gun with a scope, I just can't do too well with iron sights these days. It has a Vortex Viper 2-7 on it presently.

Wonder that didn't break the chains.
I have a 1/4" thick by 6" steel plate at 280 yards for 223 rifle & t/c pistol. Once upon a time one of my buddies had to try it with
his 22-250. It center punched thru the steel with no problem , the 223 will dent it good but nothing like that . Pretty sure its 1/4" thick.
Opened my eyes to the fact that a 22-250 is a 223 magnum, just like a 30-06 is a .308 magnum.
I had just got back into reloading then.
That guy was using lead bullets and black powder so low and slow in the speed department.

Most fun I’ve ever had shooting was at those little plastic army men toys with a pellet gun when I was a kid. Those and empty soda cans.

More recently, setting up courses of fire for backyard 3-gun, and competing with friends. That’s about the most fun I’ve had shooting as an adult.

Ok great , I should have known, Browning of course.
As soon as you said Browning a tiny memory kicked in.
It is a beauty.

Speaking of fun shooting. I did sporting clays for the first time a few weeks ago. Damn that's fun. A little expensive though.

More on balloons. ( cheap bulk pack at wallmart)
At the family land there is a low spot filled with water, essentially a big puddle.
We blow up about 50 balloons and let them drift around in the breeze, back off a few yards and call your shot.
Everybody gets 50 rounds - best hit count wins.

For myself, I like setting up shotgun hulls.

When I'm with my daughter, I bring out crappy beer (Keystone, Bud Light, Coors Light, etc) that people leave when we have parties (cans of course, no bottles). I'm down to about a 24 pack, it might be time to host another party!

Grand daughter want to do plastic milk jugs filled with colored water.
I told her sure but you will clean up all the debris - every last scrap.!

Any beer with Light in the name just shoot it.

One for my friends in IT. Fast way to delete C:\

I was waiting for someone to post a hard drive. At my friend's property we hang old hard disks using some picture hanging wire from a target frame and set them out at about 100 yards. They shatter nicely.

Side note: If you put a hard drive into a really hot campfire you can melt it. I have a blob of aluminum at my desk at work that was once a hard drive. Let's see the NSA recover data from that.

We shoot any gas powered tool that refuses to cooperate. Chain saws. weed eaters, & such. The number of rounds
depends on how evil the tool has been.
Hard drives=yes.
Oh yes, tracer rounds are fun, but only on wet days.

here is the steel target i shot today from about 35 yrds(10 paces from the 25 yrd line) with 45 acp (1911 and sig 220) and 9 mm with (czp10c and cz75d compact). the head flips backwards when hit nose and up the lower plate hangs at an angle and makes a nice gong sound when hit. the head impact 20180303_205432.jpg 20180303_205029.jpg sound is more dull as its thicker and bolted at the botttom. plate measures 14 3/4 x 11 3/4 inches roughly. i repaint the face with a stencil. i stencil the crosshairs to give me a nice aiming point.
