OK here's more
skinny on the SxS flinter:
They mentioned it was a 20 gauge,
Now, from the website:
The barrels are chromed inside, slightly choked..... (In another location on the website you can find it's choked Cylinder and Modified)
Weight: 7.71 pounds .....(which is 7 lbs. 11 ounces)
Barrel length: 27 9/16" ....( the barrels are
browned, not blued, which (imho) adds to the appearance in this particular gun).
So conceivably you could hunt deer with a round ball in the right barrel since it's cylinder bore. YET that might be problematic since such a fancy gun almost demands that you be accompanied by an
entourage..., i.e. a gun bearer, your valet/loader, and of course a ghillie.
Tough to hunt deer with such a crowd, but just the thing (if you add the dog-handler) for a genteel day of grouse or pheasant shooting.
You can btw really speed up the shooting process by loading bond-paper cartridges of premeasured powder, crushing the paper to form the wad, and then another paper cartridge (of newsprint paper) of premeasured shot, loaded intact. Works very well when I use my Pedersoli SxS caplock 20 gauge, in the company of guys with modern guns. In this case simply add priming horn and voila you're ready to shoot.
