Is there a run on high caps?

Between Magpul, HexMags, Troy Battle Mags, and a few others, I have something like 80 Pmags. I'm afraid to pull out all my mags and count them, because my oldest son would most likely snag some more. He has already accumulated 20 of my mags for his personal use.
I may order a bunch of Magpul Gen 3 mags.

I may have a similar number if I counted all my polymer mags. I spent part of this morning straightening some boxes out ...metal mags segregated from plastic ones and such. I found mags I forgot I had, and don't remember buying.
Hey.... that's good news .... I think.

Having survived the Clinton Administration and the Obama Administration there are likely enough magazines around here to last me the rest of my natural life. That includes my AR 15 mags, my AR 10 mags, my M1A mags and oh yeah least I forget 30 Carbine magazines. There are also AK magazines which is interesting as I have not fired an AK in likely 20 years. The other day I found a few of those detachable SKS magazines but I still do have an SKS at least.

On an average range trip I bring my 308 bolt gun, my 223 bolt gun and maybe an AR 10, AR 15 or my M1A and the irony is for the most part I only bring a magazine for each and even then, I like a 5 round mag in my M1A. Over the years when I saw magazines I may have wanted on sale or at a good price I just dragged them home. The same is true of powder, bullets, primers and loaded ammunition. Noticing a mini run or slight run on magazines really doesn't surprise me. We have seen it all before. :)

We have recently gone through a long stretch of super prices on all thing AR, and I hope folks bought what they needed/wanted, and since mags are a wear item, stocked up on mags. If they didn't, and they are buying in bulk today, they are buying out of fear.

But knock yourself out, it's a free country. I just get tired of some of the "chicken little" comments. :)

The local Scheel's store still has deep piles of P-Mags. I have enough that I'll probably never need to buy any more in my lifetime (although I probably still will!).

Just walked outside, pretty windy but as nearly as I can tell, the sky is not falling.

You know, if Chicken Little never left the barn, the acorn never would have hit him in the head.;)
Just remember that AR mags are disposable, but they do tend to last for a while. Some will say that I have a bunch of mags , but if you divided them between the AR I have, it comes out to less then 10 mags per gun. I guess I have a bunch of ARs. :)
Right now the price on mags are pretty good and you can find good deals. Buy them cheap, stack them deep, and have fun.

I have resolved to try to buy 10 packs of good quality NATO magazines once a month. I will also try to acquire pistol mags for the pistols I own once a month too.

I have a few, enough for me. I don't abuse them to break them, and I am too old and fat to even pretend in my fever dreams that I am some sort of "operator", so I don't think I will have my "battle vest" bristling with loaded MagPuls. Heck, I just bought my very first MagPul magazines ever, work very well.
Having said al that, I wouldn't turn down some old GI mags if offered cheap, but I don't need to run around screaming, "magazines, magazines, where are the magazines!"
I do hope this blows over so I can finally get my first actual AR - was JUST about to order a PSA lower when the world went nuts...gotta wait again for the one I wanted. And save up the money - the wife found something she needed while I dithered....

another 74 year old fat man who has all the large cap magizines he will ever need. as I shoot short magizines most of the time(easier shooting off a bench anyway).

I don`t see any panic buying here . Scheels has all the 30 round Pmags one could want for $12.99 each.

I'm keeping an eye out for the mags+ammo deals places like PSA toss out occasionally. When you can get 420rnds of 5.56 and 10 PMAG30 G2 for $130, what's not to like?

Remember than other than the gun itself magazines are the most important of a semi-automatic firearm. Without it the gun is at best a very poor single shot and a even worse fishing weight.

As November approaches I expect companies (especially Magpul) to increase production if it looks like the Democrats have a serious chance to take control of Congress.

I did a 10 or 12 pack of AR about every six months some years back. I have my "rainy day" mags. At the rate I shoot the ARs a couple of new mags per year will keep me up to date.

Just got an Email from Brownell's "huge spring magazine sale" 10 40-round P-Mags for $170 doesn't sound like any kind of panic pricing to me. But the panicking seller pricing may be over

Ok, I cannot resist, every poster here has been talking about 30 round mags, the standard size for ARs.

But, I have observed that OP might be correct about hi-cap--it's been months since I've seen a 60 round, let alone a 75 or 150 round mag for sale. But, I'm blaming the aliens and chemtrails for that. [:)]

I’d personally avoid PSA due to some of the anecdotal horror strories I’ve seen here and on other sites.

Start with a dimensionally correct lower that is assembled properly. For $150.00 this is tough to beat and has most of the hard or tool intensive bits installed.

As a bonus SIONICS maintains rigorous quality control, and assembles their stuff right. Plus the receiver extension is 7075-T6 not cheaper 6061.

Almost all of the 30 round magazines I own are still in the bag. I much prefer the shorter 20 round mags for the range, and we are limited to 10 round mags for hunting here.

I also prefer the 20's. Everyone else can have the 30's.

Remember that 20-round magazines are also in the gun-banners' sights. Even 15-round M1 carbine mags, etc.

There's a legislative feeding frenzy going on, based on all the bills that are being introduced on the state and federal levels. These people have lost their collective minds.

No legislation is going to actually remove magazines. It will, however, sweep them under the carpet and make them "invisible" for law-abiding people.

Buy while you still can.

Since I feel I have enough for my needs I really haven't paid any attention to the supply. I did stop in my little local LCS yesterday afternoon to pick up a bottle of Hoppe's #9 of which he exactly none and said he hadn't been able to get any since the first of the year. There were a couple of other guys in there that I've known for quite awhile so we just sat around and chewed the fat for bit and I noticed the wall rack where he displays his ARs was empty and commented on it. He said he had sold them all and was trying to get more as the demand had really increased after the last school shooting. I would expect magazines to follow the same trend.

I only have 4 AR rifles which use the same magazines and over the years I have accumulated more than 10 mags for each. I should thank the USMC for several of them. Before anymore AR 15 magazines I could focus on more AR 10 (I use the early Armalite flavor) and more M1A magazines. My next duty station will likely involve St. Peter at the gate so I maybe should focus on more 1911 guns and magazines at this point. Then too, now that you mention it, had chicken little never left the safety and comfort of the barn the acorn never would have hit him on the head. :)

Personally I have no use for 30 round magazines....Each of my rifles came with a couple and the mags have just sat in my parts box for years. Since my AR's are used for hunting and target shooting the majority of my mags are 5 and 10 rounders. You guys can buy up all the big boys......and worry when you can't find any more. I'll stand on the sidelines and keep using my puny, lo-cap mags.......my ammo is much too valuable to me to blast away 30 rounds at a time.

AR mags might well be a wear item but I have 20 year old magazines that still function perfectly and I shoot the rifles a bunch.....still haven't worn one out. In all honesty I just don't understand it. What's the appeal of having dozens of hi-cap magazines anyway?

Around here its really easy, it just too hot to stand/sit outdoors on the firing line stuffing mags for 8+ months of the year. I want enough mags to hold 100-200 rounds for any of my guns (rifles or pistols) that make regular range trips. This way I can stuff them in air conditioned comfort and just grab what I need when I go to the range. I mostly shoot steel plates so 60-100 per rifile or 100-200 per pistol per outing is typical. It pains me to think about how much I've spent for spare mags but shooting would be a lot less fun if I spent half or more of my time at the range stuffing mags in our 90+ heat!

I really like that many new guns use AR or AK pattern mags so I don't need to buy more mags when I get one.
